Three Things: A new tree, a head start and a hometown connection
A bur oak tree found a new home Friday afternoon in front of Philomath Community Library, replacing the American elm that once held the distinction of being the first tree nominated under the city’s Heritage Tree program. Testing in late 2025 confirmed the well-loved elm was infected with Dutch elm disease and it was removed earlier this year.
