The Philomath City Council will hold a public hearing Monday night on a proposal to rename Emerald Drive as Jade Place, a change city planners say would fix a mismatch between the street’s official name and the addresses of the homes along it.

The council meets at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at Philomath City Hall, 980 Applegate St. The meeting is also live-streamed on the city’s YouTube channel.

The street, located in the Westbrook Phase II subdivision, appears as Emerald Drive on the approved plat. However, the 11 properties along it have already been assigned Jade Place addresses, according to a memo to the council from contract city planner Laura LaRoque.

Because those addresses are already in use, the renaming would bring the official street name in line with the existing addressing system. Property owners would not need new address numbers as a result of the change, the memo states. The renaming is not tied to any current land use decision.

The evening’s agenda also includes a presentation from PhiloMAX Studio titled “Small Town, Big Art.”

Under business items, the council will consider authorizing the city manager to sign a contract with The Automation Group as the city’s integrator of record. The integrator of record builds, repairs and programs the electronic systems that control the city’s water and wastewater treatment plants, sewer and booster pump stations, level and pressure indicators, generators and other equipment.

Councilors will also review the first-quarter report on the city’s strategic plan, take up a second amendment to the American Rescue Plan Act grant for the water treatment plant project and discuss the process for the city manager’s 2026 evaluation.

The council is also scheduled to consider a resolution to adopt a Traffic Safety Action Plan.

The meeting also includes time for council liaison reports, a management report and general public comment.
