The Philomath High School girls volleyball team couldn’t keep pace with Central on the road Tuesday night in a 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 loss.

The Warriors drop to 3-12 overall and 0-4 in the Oregon West Conference and will try to get back in the win column Thursday when league leader Stayton visits the PHS gym. That match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.

“We just didn’t step up to the occasion and need to work on mental consistency,” PHS coach Whitney Thomas said about the Central match. “We had some positive moments — Luci (Alley) played great defensively at the net. Alyssa (Stanley) had great blocks and really forced their offense to slow down.”

Senior Nora Stanley had a team-high 16 kills for Philomath. Sophomore Alyssa Stanley had six kills and five stuff blocks. Senior setter Cheyenne Adams finished with 20 assists.
