THURSDAY, OCT. 1

• 9:55 a.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a theft on Highway 20 in Blodgett. According to an incident report, a 44-year-old Blodgett man said someone came onto his property overnight and destroyed or stole four of his mature marijuana plants, valued at $6,000. No suspects have been identified.
• 10:14 a.m. — BCSO responded to a report of menacing involving a firearm in the 2700 block of Chapel Drive. According to an incident report, workers installing lines at a residence said the tenant, a 38-year-old Philomath man, answered the door holding a pistol, which made them fearful. The man told the deputy he held the pistol pointed at the ground for protection and denied threatening anyone. The deputy determined no crime occurred, and the case was discontinued.

FRIDAY, OCT. 2

• 7 a.m. — BCSO responded to a complaint of an overnight camper on private property near Botkin Road at milepost 2. According to an incident report, the deputy located a green van and determined it was on Bureau of Land Management property. No one answered when the deputy tried to contact the occupants. No crime was committed and the deputy planned to check on the van the following week.

• 10:20 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash with possible injuries on Highway 20 near Highway 34. According to an incident report, the driver of a Toyota Tundra pickup, an 18-year-old Philomath man, was not injured and may have been having mechanical issues with the vehicle. He arranged for his own tow through his insurance.

SUNDAY, OCT. 4

• 5:49 a.m. — BCSO responded to a vehicle-versus-elk crash with no injuries on Highway 20 just east of Blodgett. According to an incident report, a 34-year-old Springfield man driving a Nissan Versa struck a cow elk. The elk was dispatched, and the driver reportedly planned to salvage the animal.

MONDAY, OCT. 5

• 12:29 p.m. — BCSO responded to a report of criminal mischief at the Conner’s Camp trailhead on Marys Peak Road. According to an incident report, a 30-year-old Albany man and a 48-year-old Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, woman said the windows of both of their vehicles were broken out while they were hiking. No items were reported missing.
