City moves to clarify Frolic and Rodeo lease before this summer’s event

Amendment addresses ownership, insurance questions ahead of July 9-11 event at the rodeo grounds in Skirvin Park

The Philomath City Council on Monday directed City Manager Chris Workman to execute an amendment to the city’s lease agreement with the Philomath Frolic and Rodeo with officials noting the changes needed to be in place before this year’s event. The council voted 6-0 in favor with Councilor Spencer Irwin recusing himself due to a conflict of interest — his company contracts with the Frolic and Rodeo for services. Philomath High cross-country and track standout Cassidy Smart added another exceptional athletic accomplishment to her résumé this past Friday by winning her heat and placing fourth overall in the 2,000-meter steeplechase at the Nike Outdoor Nationals.
