Philomath High School had six players recognized on the all-Oregon West Conference softball team, led by center fielder Rylee Martin’s first-team selection.
Martin, a sophomore who also saw time at shortstop and served as the team’s leadoff batter, was the lone Warrior to earn first-team honors. Three players landed on the second team — sophomore pitcher Hailey Smith, sophomore infielder Libby Kramer and junior utility player Haley King. Junior infielder Sierra Skaggs and junior catcher Riley Mason each received honorable mention recognition.
Smith was Philomath’s No. 1 pitcher throughout the season, while King — listed as a utility player — primarily played third base with some time at first base when not in the circle. Kramer started at shortstop, Skaggs anchored first base and Mason served as the team’s regular catcher.
The Warriors finished the season with a 9-13 record.
Conference champion Cascade dominated the all-conference selections, placing nine players on the list. The Cougars also swept the major individual awards with Amyah Miranda and Cassidy Crabtree sharing Co-Players of the Year honors and Taylor Bays earning Pitcher of the Year. Marty Jeppsen of Cascade and Madison Wylie of Stayton were named Co-Coaches of the Year.
