Philomath High’s boys golf team played in a five-school tournament hosted by Newport on the Salishan Golf Links course at Gleneden Beach Wednesday with senior Roman Robins turning in a top-10 performance.
Robins had nine-hole totals of 47 on the front and 46 on the back to finish seventh in the individual standings with a 93. Robins had four par holes in the performance on the fourth, ninth, 10th and 13th holes.
Freshman Conrad Yates finished 18th overall with a 110. Freshman Corbin Black was 23rd at 120, sophomore Avery Petrovich finished 24th at 124 and freshman Isaiah Hood ended up 25th at 134.
Cascade’s Grant Hemelstrand, a junior, and Garrett Wells, a freshman, tied for individual medalist honors with scores of 76. The Cougars easily finished first in the team standings with a 324.
Philomath’s boys now prepare for the Oregon West Conference championships scheduled for Monday and Tuesday on the Tokatee Golf Club course at McKenzie Bridge.
