Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, APRIL 10

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included property found and turned in by a citizen at 1:32 a.m. (South 19th Street and Applegate Street), accidental dialing of 911 at 10:28 a.m. (Southwood Drive), accidental dialing of 911 at 10:33 a.m. (Pioneer Street), 911 hang-up call at 2:30 p.m. (South 19th Street). PPD reported nine traffic stops.

SATURDAY, APRIL 11

• 2:10 p.m. — Police responded to a suspicious circumstance involving an adult female transient who was occupying a sidewalk in the 200 block of North Seventh Street. The woman said she would be moving along shortly.

Other calls: Police responses included a driving complaint at 7:20 a.m. (Main Street), abandoned vehicle towed at 10:02 a.m. (North Eighth Street), mental health situation at 3:39 p.m. (Pioneer Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

SUNDAY, APRIL 12

• 11:31 a.m. — Police assisted the Sweet Home Police Department by checking the area for a vehicle. The officer was unable to find the vehicle.

• 4:15 p.m. — Police transferred custody of a 38-year-old Albany man to the Albany Police Department on a charge out of that jurisdiction.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a suspicious circumstance at 7:58 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a welfare check at 8:07 p.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported 13 traffic stops.

MONDAY, APRIL 13

• 3:35 p.m. — Police responded to a reckless driving incident at Paul J. Cochran Veterans Memorial Park involving a juvenile who had done a “burn out” with an electric mini pocket bike. The parent was contacted and advised that electric mini bikes are not allowed on public streets and only on private property.  

• 11:48 p.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a one-vehicle rollover crash in the area of Greenberry Road and Bellfountain Road. The vehicle’s driver was transported with undisclosed injuries to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.  

Other calls: Police responses included a parking complaint at 10:26 a.m. (North 11th Street), report of a stolen cellphone at 1:02 p.m. (North 15th Street) and a mental health situation at 6:45 p.m. (Pioneer Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 1:29 a.m. (Main Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.

TUESDAY, APRIL 14

• 6:59 a.m. — Police responded to a report of an injured raccoon in the 2000 block of Applegate Street. The Chintimini Wildlife Center in Corvallis was contacted to assist.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 4:14 p.m. (North Eighth Street) and a report of a lost dog at 4:36 p.m. (South 13th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 11:27 a.m. (North 17th Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a repossessed vehicle at 11:21 a.m. (Inspiration Way). PPD reported two traffic stops.

THURSDAY, APRIL 16

• 7:27 a.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at North Ninth Street and Pioneer Street. No injuries were reported.

• 8:07 a.m. — Police responded to a business on Main Street for a report of a man who had walked in and was burning his shoes. The individual was transported by the Benton County Sheriff’s Office to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

• 1:43 p.m. — Police responded to a report of trespassing at Philomath Community Library involving a woman who had recently been trespassed from the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library but did not realize the order applied to the entire library system. The woman told the officer she had come to the Philomath branch to charge her electronic devices. She was moved along and warned about returning.

Other calls: Police responses included a drug overdose or ingested poisoning at 6:19 a.m. (South 13th Street), disorderly conduct incident at 3:54 p.m. (College Street) and a noncriminal issue at 8:34 p.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.
