Philomath residents now have a direct way to help shape what the city looks like a generation from now.
The city of Philomath has launched a community survey as part of Philomath 2050, a long-range visioning initiative that aims to produce a shared 25-year roadmap for the community. The survey will remain available through June 4 at surveymonkey.com/r/Philomath2050.
Organizers are encouraging residents, business owners and anyone with ties to Philomath to weigh in. The responses will feed directly into a Vision 2050 framework scheduled to be drafted in May and June, according to the project timeline.
While the city is sponsoring the initiative, project materials describe Vision 2050 as a community-led effort rather than a city planning document. The resulting vision is intended to be owned by the community with local organizations, nonprofits, schools and civic partners coming together to carry it forward, organizers said.
According to the project website, the initiative is designed to break down silos between organizations, align priorities across sectors, reduce duplication of effort and create a unified direction for future investments and partnerships. Deliverables are expected to include a 25-year vision plan, a set of aligned community priorities, identified communitywide projects and a roadmap to guide funding and decision-making.
The survey is one of several engagement opportunities planned this year. Project organizers held a visioning workshop with civic and community leaders earlier this spring and say Vision Labs and additional community conversations will continue into the summer. A “did we get it right” community review is scheduled for June through August with final plan adoption targeted for September or October.
Fact sheets, posters and additional materials will soon be available at Philomath City Hall, organizers said, and in-person engagement opportunities will be offered at local events and gatherings as the project moves forward.
Residents can learn more about the initiative, sign up for updates and access the survey at philomath2050.org. Project updates will also continue to be posted on the city’s website.
