The Philomath Lions Club’s 18th annual book sale returns to Skirvin Park’s rodeo grounds Thursday through Saturday, the organization announced.

The sale with more than 17,000 books will run from noon-6 p.m. on July 25-26 and noon-4 p.m. on July 27.

Books are priced from 75 cents to $2 and for those looking for even better deals, Saturday’s session features the $4 per bag sale (the Lions Club provides a paper grocery bag). Special books are half price on the final day.

Organizers said that only books in good to like-new conditions are kept for the sale. Ex-library books are not included and books have not been “picked over” or listed for online sales.

The event also includes CDs and DVDs.

The book sale has traditionally served as the Lions Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year and represents one of the larger sales in the region.

Proceeds from the sale are used to support the organization’s various causes, including college textbook scholarships that are awarded to Philomath High School students each spring.
