THURSDAY, JULY 21
• 8:48 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash on Highway 228 near Interstate 5 that took the life of Elijah A. Copeland, 46, of Eugene. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 39-year-old Junction City man was driving west on Highway 228 in a Dodge Ram towing a utility trailer when he struck Copeland, who had left a Toyota Tacoma and entered the westbound lane on foot for an unknown reason. Copeland was declared deceased at the scene. The Dodge Ram’s driver and a passenger, a 38-year-old Junction City woman, were not injured.
THURSDAY, JULY 31
• 2:27 a.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-bicycle crash on Interstate 5 in Douglas County about 2 miles south of Sutherlin that took the life of Justin Jay Little, 42, of Cypress, California. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 66-year-old Roseburg man was driving south on I-5 in a Toyota Tundra when he struck Little, who was riding a bicycle for an unknown reason in the fast lane. Little was declared deceased at the scene. The Toyota Tundra’s driver reported minor injuries. A passenger in the Tundra, a 62-year-old Roseburg woman, reportedly suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.
FRIDAY, AUG. 1
• 12:31 p.m. — Troopers responded to a vehicle-bicycle crash on Highway 395 just north of the California border in Lake County that took the life of Robert Patrick McGee, 69, of New Pine Creek. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated McGee was traveling south on Highway 395 when he was struck by a GMC 3500 HD pickup driven by Greg Alan Stiles, 64, of Guernville, California, who was attempting to pass. McGee was declared deceased at the scene. Troopers determined that Stiles was impaired at the time of the collision and he was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and transported to Lake County Jail. A passenger in the GMC, a 48-year-old man from Santa Rosa, California, was not injured.
