The public meetings calendar next week in Philomath will be full with the City Council, Fire and Rescue board and School Board all scheduled to meet.
The council meeting may be among the most interesting among the bunch with the councilors going on a field trip to an affordable housing project in west Corvallis. Later in the evening, they could make a decision on whether to partner with a company on a development at 20th and Main.
Citizens may also be interested to know that there will be a public hearing at Monday night’s council meeting on proposed island annexations.
The Philomath Fire and Rescue board appears to have a lot of routine business to get through. The Philomath School Board’s agendas haven’t been published yet, so look for those early next week.
Following is a rundown of all government meetings for the week of Aug. 11-15:
Monday, Aug. 11
- The Philomath City Council will begin its evening with a work session at 5:30 p.m. at 53rd Flats, an affordable housing property in Corvallis (5350 SW Country Club Drive). Councilors will listen to a presentation from Daniel DiFrancesco, an executive with the Commonwealth Companies.
- The Philomath City Council will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall (980 Applegate St.) for an agenda that includes discussion and a possible decision on partnering with the Commonwealth Companies to develop the city’s vacant property at 20th Street and Main Street. The evening will also include a public hearing on a proposal to annex several island properties into the city. Various other routine items also appear on the agenda, which can be accessed here.
- The Philomath Fire and Rescue Board of Directors are scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. at Station 201 (1035 Main St.) for an agenda that includes continuing work on the district’s master plan, policy updates, levy calendar and more. Tuesday, Aug. 12
- The Benton County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. at the Kalapuya Building (4500 SW Research Way, Corvallis) for a goal-setting meeting. For a rundown of work session topics and new business, click here.
Wednesday, Aug. 13
- The Philomath School Board’s meeting schedule shows a work session to take place at 3 p.m. presumably at Philomath High School’s Community Conference Room (2054 Applegate St.). Check here to verify the location and for more information to be published.
- The HOPE Advisory Board’s Executive Committee plans to meet virtually at 4 p.m. for an agenda that includes bylaws updates and coordinated homeless response updates. See the agenda here.

- The Philomath School Board is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. for a work session on strategic planning at Philomath High School’s Community Conference Room (2054 Applegate St.).
