MONDAY, JAN. 27
• 6:30 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 about 7 miles south of Coos Bay that took the life of Judy Marie Scharf, 79, of Bandon. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Scharf was heading north in a Ford Ranger and for unknown reasons crossed over into the southbound lanes and hit nearly head-on a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 71-year-old Sixes man. The Silverado’s driver reportedly suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Scharf was declared deceased at the scene.
• 7:46 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 66 about 3 miles east of Keno in Klamath County that took the life of William Matthew McFall, 45, of Klamath Falls. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that McFall was driving west in a Mini Cooper when the vehicle crossed the center line, exited the roadway from the eastbound lane and struck a tree. McFall was transported to an area hospital and declared deceased.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 29
• 11:34 a.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 22 a little more than a mile north of Marion Forks in Linn County that took the lives of Theodore Kleinman, 79, of Redmond, and Delores Ann Carroll, 76, of Redmond. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Kleinman was driving a Cadillac east on Highway 22 near Minto Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck head-on a Ford F15 driven by Carroll. Both drivers were transported to an area hospital where they both died from their injuries. A passenger in the Ford, a 51-year-old Redmond man, was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
THURSDAY, JAN. 30
• 3:15 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 138 near Roseburg that took the life of Jessica Rae Thompson, 36, of Winston. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Thompson was driving east on Highway 138 when the vehicle veered off the south side of the roadway and struck an embankment. The vehicle went airborne and rolled over, coming to a rest down the embankment. Thompson was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene. Speed and impairment were believed to have been factors in the crash.
