RANDOM OBSERVATION: I must admit — it can be a challenge to register in my head that I’m driving through a school zone on Chapel Drive just east of South 19th. Of course, the signs warn you to slow down during school hours but I think it’s sort of an out-of-sight situation that comes into play. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen kids walking along that stretch (perhaps I’m not using the road at those times of the day) and you can’t see the middle school through the trees. No complaints, mind you, just a thought that came to me this morning as I drove through. It seems that most school zones are within view of the buildings (although yes, the entrance to the middle school is within this stretch). Anyway, I’ll continue to ease up on the gas. — Brad Fuqua, publisher/editor
