For the second straight year, a 3-on-3 basketball team featuring mostly Philomath athletes won its age and skill division at Hoop Jam, an annual tournament hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Albany.
Double Stuff Oreos featuring Kaden Howard, Jamin Peters, Esias Sapp and Alston Young took first place in the 17-and-under moderate division. Howard, Peters and Sapp will be juniors this coming season for the Warriors. Young will be a junior at Corvallis High School.
Colton Howard was the team’s coach.
Hoop Jam, which is staged in the Linn-Benton Community College parking lot, bills itself as “a great way to focus on youth, community building and character development through an athletic venue.”
Event organizers anticipated more than 3,000 players and families to participate.
