To the Editor:

Yesterday (Feb. 18), my daughter, Alice, and I were returning from Newport on a fundraiser mission for my other daughter Ruth’s children’s school (Green Acres in Lebanon). They are having a school carnival on March 5 to replace outdated playground equipment.

We stopped at your Dollar General (tradition — we don’t have a Dollar General in Lebanon) before going home. I went in to shop while Alice took a nap in the car. I took a cart and proceeded to do our shopping and when I finished I proceeded to the checkout counter.

While I was waiting three people came up behind me with their items and no cart. I proceeded to let each of them ahead of me (two gentlemen and one lady). I was brought up to help people even if it’s only in a small way.

Now this is why I am writing to you. I believe that the lady “paid it forward” and paid for my purchases. I want to thank her for her kindness to a complete stranger. Alice and I are on a very tight budget and this helped us out greatly.

So thank you unnamed lady. Your kindness will never be forgotten!
