FRIDAY, OCT. 3
• 11:26 p.m. — Emergency medical services personnel responded to a motorcycle crash on Decker Road near Decker Ridge Road. According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the operator, a 38-year-old Philomath man, reportedly suffered minor injuries and was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. BCSO arrested the man on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and eluding law enforcement. See an Oct. 3 entry in the BCSO Log.

SATURDAY, OCT. 4
• 2:55 p.m. — Firefighters performed a smoke investigation with the Oregon Department of Forestry in an area west of Highway 34 at Botkin Road. Crews patrolled the area and no sightings or odor of smoke were observed.

SUNDAY, OCT. 5
• 1:40 p.m. — Firefighters responded to a grass fire on the north side of Decker Road that measured approximately 5 feet by 25 feet. Before the arrival of firefighters, the fire reportedly had been knocked down by passersby and the Oregon Department of Forestry was at the scene. ODF applied water to the burned area. Philomath’s crew assisted with an investigation and overhaul and provided traffic control.

MONDAY, OCT. 6

TUESDAY, OCT. 7
• 1:38 p.m. — Firefighters responded to the activation of a fire alarm in the 3000 block of Main Street.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 8
• 6:44 p.m. — Firefighters responded to what was initially reported as a large natural cover fire in a rural area near the 25000 block of Airport Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found a burn pile on the property. It was determined that the property owner was burning legal materials with tools and a hose line in place and was informed that burn season was delayed, expressing the need to check burn hours daily before burning.

THURSDAY, OCT. 9
• 6:27 p.m. — Firefighters responded to the activation of a fire alarm in the 300 block of Topaz Street.
