Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, OCT. 3

• 2:25 p.m. — Police assisted another agency involving a woman who had been reported missing out of California and was located at Vinwood Taphouse.

• 3:23 p.m. — Police responded to a report of threats that were allegedly made by a juvenile who said they had a gun in their backpack while on a school bus. The backpack was searched and no weapons were found.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of an abandoned vehicle at 9:33 a.m. (Landmark Drive and Main Street), dog barking at 5:07 p.m. (Vincent Street), dog found at 6:35 p.m. (College Street and North 16th Street) and a welfare check at 6:43 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 11:16 p.m. (Northwest Walnut Boulevard and Northwest Satinwood Street, Corvallis). PPD reported six traffic stops.

SATURDAY, OCT. 4

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a suspicious person at 11:26 p.m. (North Eighth Street). PPD reported 15 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, OCT. 5

• Time NA — Police arrested a 22-year-old Philomath man on a felony charge of first-degree sexual abuse (name omitted to protect a minor victim) for allegedly touching a child under age 14.

Other calls: Police responses included an animal complaint at 1:56 a.m. (Newton Street), citizen assistance at 10:44 a.m. (South 13th Street) and response to a citizen concern at 11:55 a.m. (South 16th Street). PPD reported 18 traffic stops.

MONDAY, OCT. 6

• 7:43 a.m. — Police responded to a report of the theft of two white oil drums from Les Schwab.

• 11:15 a.m. — Police responded to a citizen’s report in the 200 block of North 13th Street that an old sofa had been dumped on the lawn of his rental property. The property owner reported that he would dispose of the sofa in a few days.

• 11:25 a.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud from a man in the 400 block of South 27th Street that three unauthorized bank accounts had been opened in his name.

• 11:47 a.m. — Police responded to a report from a parent who reported that her son had been falsely accused of a threat. The parent was advised that it was a civil issue.

• 2:32 p.m. — Police responded to an animal complaint at Pippa Lane and North 11th Street involving a report of turkeys that were causing a nuisance.

• 4:57 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud from a woman in the 200 block of South 13th Street that she had received text messages that credit cards were taken out in her name.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 12:43 p.m. (Main Street), suspicious circumstances at 4:46 p.m. (Applegate Street) and medical emergency assistance at 8:11 p.m. (North Ninth Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

TUESDAY, OCT. 7

• 11:58 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious person at a local business involving a man who approached a teenage girl, commented that she looked pretty and wanted to take pictures of her. A friend arrived to help the girl get home. 

• 1:33 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious person from a local church involving a woman who had arrived Oct. 3 and was claiming she was a victim of domestic violence. The woman, who had Washington plates on her vehicle, was seeking gas money and asking questions about children. The church referred her to the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence in Corvallis. 

Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 8:05 a.m., event detail at 10:17 a.m. (Applegate Street), park ordinance violation at 3:05 p.m. (Philomath City Park), verbal disturbance at 7:14 p.m. (North Seventh Street) and a mental health crisis at 8:19 p.m. In addition, police assisted another agency at 6:31 a.m (Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis). PPD reported no traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 8

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 11:01 a.m., juvenile complaint at 11:52 a.m. (Philomath High School), citizen contact at 4:19 p.m. (Main Street), parking complaint at 4:37 p.m. (South 24th Street and Newton Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 9:41 p.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis). In addition, police assisted another agency at 1:49 a.m. (Marys River Estates Road). PPD reported six traffic stops.

THURSDAY, OCT. 9

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of harassment at 5:11 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.
