Classical crossover guitarist David Rogers returns to Cardwell Hill Cellars for a concert from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
The intimate concert at the Philomath-area winery will feature an eclectic mix of Spanish music, up-tempo Latin pieces, Arabic influences, Beatles classics, flashy pop arrangements, works by J.S. Bach and original compositions. Rogers also weaves in stories and jokes about the music throughout the performance.
Rogers, who has been called “a prominent guitarist” by The New York Times, is known for combining technical mastery with engaging storytelling. The Washington Post has praised his “astonishingly florid” improvisations, and audiences can expect both musical excellence and entertaining anecdotes throughout the evening.

As an endorsing artist for Aquila Strings of Italy, Rogers has gained international attention in the guitar world. His music has been featured in prominent guitar publications including Fingerstyle Guitar in the United States and Akustic Gitarre in Germany, and his solo and ensemble performances have been broadcast on NPR and Bayrische Rundfunk in Germany.
Rogers performed at Cardwell Hill Cellars last summer as well, drawing a crowd for a similarly wide-ranging program of classical and contemporary pieces.
