The Philomath High School boys tennis team moved its record to 6-2-1 on the season with a 6-0 victory Tuesday at North Marion.
The Warriors won five of the six matches in straight sets. A thriller unfolded at No. 2 singles where Philomath’s Jackson Rice pulled out a 7-5, 6-7, 10-5 win over North Marion’s Alex Urena Castaneda.
Other singles winners for the Warriors included Dawson Beckstead at No. 1 (6-1, 6-1) and Owen Thomas at No. 3 (6-2, 6-2). There was no No. 4 singles match.
In doubles, Philomath’s Teddy Benbow and Sawyer Ainsworth took a 6-1, 6-1 victory over their North Marion counterparts. Also winning were the teams of Gradin Fairbanks and Lane Schell at No. 2 (6-0, 6-3) and Osvaldo Garcia-Bazan and Jackson Holroyd at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0). There was no No. 4 doubles match.
The Warriors are scheduled to hit the road again Thursday with a dual at Cascade.
