The Philomath High School girls tennis team swept Dallas off the courts Friday with a 6-0 victory in a match made up from an early-season rainout.

The most intense match of the afternoon occurred at No. 1 doubles with junior Maggie King and sophomore Lizzie Workman fighting for a 7-6, 6-7, 10-6 victory over juniors Jenna Rogers and Navy Latta. The first two sets went to tiebreakers with King and Workman taking the first, 7-3, and Rogers and Latta taking the second, 7-4. Instead of playing a full third set, the match was decided with the first to 10 points (or win by two).

All of the other matches were decided in straight sets. At No. 2 doubles, junior Lucie Oster and sophomore Clara Neville were 6-4, 6-3 winners. Singles winners included senior Adele Beckstead at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0), junior Lucy King at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1), sophomore Lucy Thomas at No. 3 (6-1, 6-4) and sophomore Ella Hammonds at No. 4 (6-4, 7-5).

The girls tennis team is scheduled to play again Monday at 4 p.m. on the home courts vs. Marist Catholic.
