Clemens Community Pool will offer two special events on May 15 and May 23 in conjunction with National Water Safety Month, pool director Eugenia Moone announced.

The pool will host an International Water Safety Day event on Thursday, May 15, with two sessions available (5:30-6:30 p.m., and 6:30-7:30 p.m.) for swimmers ages 3 and older. Participants will be able to work on basic swimming and water safety skills including floating, bobbing to safety, reach or throw (don’t go!) and life jacket safety, Moone said.

In addition, spectators will receive information to keep their families safe around water.

The cost is $7 for swimmers, free for spectators. Call 541-929-3584 to preregister, which is recommended to reserve a spot.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day returns May 23 with the theme, “Move Today for a Better Tomorrow.” The pool will be open from 6 a.m.-noon for lap swimming with an exercise class at 8 a.m. The cost is $4 for lap swimming or $5 to join the exercise class. Seniors who participate will receive a special gift.

Beyond those events, the pool is open in May for lap swimming on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 a.m.-noon; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.; Fridays from 6-9 a.m.; and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon.

Open recreation for families is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-noon.
