In anticipation of extreme heat on Sunday, both the Philomath Farmers’ Market and the city’s Music in the Park concert series have been canceled.
The farmers’ market was scheduled for its fifth Sunday of the 16-week season this weekend, but the event takes place during what is typically leads into the warmest part of the day from 1-5 p.m. Music in the Park added performances on the last Sunday of the month to its lineup this summer.
The forecast for Philomath on Sunday calls for record-high temperatures that could reach 111. The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning that will go into effect at 10 a.m. Saturday and run until 11 p.m. Monday.
