Agate Beach, Oregon

After this past year with a little too much time in the house, people might be ready to spend a lot of time outdoors over the next several months. For those who enjoy state parks, annual day-use parking permits are available throughout December at a discounted rate.

“This is the only time we discount the annual pass,” Lisa Sumption, director of Oregon Parks and Recreation Department said in a press release. “Celebrate the holidays with family and friends by giving a gift that opens the doors to Oregon’s special places.”

The annual parking permits are available for $25, which is $5 less than the regular price, through Dec. 31.

The permits are available online at store.oregonstateparks.org. Parking permits are also sold at some state park friends’ group stores and selected local businesses throughout the state. See the complete list at stateparks.oregon.gov.Parking costs $5 a day at 25 Oregon state parks except for those with a 12- or 24-month parking permit or a same-day camping receipt.
