Mikaila Saathoff, a 2021 graduate of Philomath High School, earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and physics from Linfield University following the spring semester.

Saathoff was among more than 470 students who earned undergraduate degrees, master’s degrees or certificates from the McMinnville-based institution this spring.

The university held its commencement ceremony on June 1 while the softball team competed in the NCAA Division III National Championships in Illinois. Saathoff was a standout softball player in the program. To honor the student-athletes, Linfield administrators worked with the Illinois Wesleyan athletic department to create a mini-graduation ceremony on June 2 before the team traveled back to Oregon.
