FRIDAY, JAN. 19
• 9:48 a.m. — Police arrested a 26-year-old Corvallis man on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (blood alcohol content of 12%) during a traffic stop in the 3000 block of Main Street. The man was issued a citation in lieu of custody.
Other calls: Police responses included an abandoned vehicle at 10:12 a.m. (McCall Way) and a littering violation at 2:33 p.m. (Industrial Way and North 19th Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.
SATURDAY, JAN. 20
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a person assist at 3:59 p.m. (Starlight Way). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 1:05 p.m. (North 12th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.
SUNDAY, JAN. 21
• 11:37 a.m. — Police responded to a report of an intoxicated man bothering customers at a business in the 1900 block of Main Street. Police made contact and told the man to leave the premises.
• 10:05 p.m. — Police arrested a 45-year-old Seal Rock woman on a warrant out of Washington County during a traffic stop at Main Street and South 21st Street. The woman was transported to Benton County Jail.
Other calls: Police responses included an extra patrol at 2:08 p.m. (Main Street), found wallet and returned to owner at 2:13 p.m. (Philomath City Park), non-criminal issue at 3:44 p.m. (Applegate Street), suicidal subject at 5:45 p.m., and a suspicious circumstance at 7:27 p.m. (South 20th Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.
MONDAY, JAN. 22
• 4:18 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 500 block of Cedar Place involving a credit card opened in a Philomath man’s name.
Other calls: PPD reported one traffic stop.
TUESDAY, JAN. 23
• 2:26 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 100 block of South 10th Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
• 5:03 p.m. — Police participated in a death investigation in the 200 block of South 17th Street.
Other calls: Police responses included a 911 hang-up call at 8:30 a.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 4:20 p.m. (Green Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

• 1:08 a.m. — Police arrested a 36-year-old Philomath woman on a warrant and a misdemeanor charge of third-degree theft at Main Street and North 16th Street.

Other calls: Police responses included a domestic disturbance at 2:46 a.m. (North 12th Street), 911 hang-up call at 4:40 p.m. (Main Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 9:04 p.m. (South 18th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.
SATURDAY, JAN. 27
• 8:44 a.m. — Police assisted at the scene of a logging yarder accident at Wild Rose Quarry east of Kings Valley Highway in Wren. See separate story.
• 11:30 a.m. — Police arrested a 25-year-old Sweet Home woman on a warrant in the 1300 block of Main Street.
Other calls: Police responses included an intoxicated subject at 3:36 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on calls at 2:30 a.m. (Kings Valley Highway) and 2:45 p.m. (Fern Road). PPD reported 16 traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 31
• 3:44 p.m. — Police assisted at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 and Summit Highway in Blodgett that took the life of a 61-year-old Hubbard man. See separate story.
• 7:30 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 300 block of Sunshine Avenue. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of a vicious dog at 3:55 p.m. (North 20th Place). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 2:23 a.m. (Northeast Conifer Boulevard, Corvallis). PPD reported no traffic stops.
THURSDAY, FEB. 1

FRIDAY, JAN. 26
• 9:55 a.m. — Deputies responded to a crash on Highway 20 near Mustang Lane involving a Chevrolet Camaro that had gone off the road and down an embankment. After a search of the area with other agencies, the vehicle was found about 25 yards off the roadway nearly buried in briars. The driver, a 70-year-old Waldport man, appeared shaken up but had no apparent injuries. He was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center via Corvallis Fire ambulance for evaluation.
SATURDAY, JAN. 27
• 7:30 p.m. — Deputies investigated a report of theft at a residence on Price Creek Road. A 79-year-old resident said two men claiming to work for the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes had made contact and asked for $500 on a gift card to be sent as part of a prize-collection process.
MONDAY, JAN. 29
• 7:30 p.m. — Deputies cited a 21-year-old Lebanon woman for multiple traffic violations during a traffic stop on Green Street near Main Street. The vehicle had been pulled over because the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles database showed the vehicle’s registration had expired in 2021. The vehicle, however, had plates with 2024 expiration stickers attached. In addition to the citations, the vehicle’s plates were seized and returned to the DMV.
TUESDAY, JAN. 30
• 2 p.m. — Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 34 near Decker Road involving a Toyota Tacoma driven by a 36-year-old Corvallis man that had hit the driver’s side rear quarter panel of a Chevrolet Express van driven by a 39-year-old Corvallis man. No injuries were reported.

FATAL CRASHES
SATURDAY, JAN. 27
• 3:49 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 99W near Junction City that took the life of Kimberly Michelle Pratt, 33, of Eugene. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Pratt was driving north in a Mitsubishi Montero that left the roadway on the west side for unknown reasons. The vehicle rolled onto its top and came to rest in a residential driveway. Pratt was declared deceased at the scene. OSP reported that the woman was not wearing a safety restraint at the time of the crash.
TUESDAY, JAN. 30
• 1:22 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 42 near Winston that took the lives of Tabitha M. Romans, 31, of Cottage Grove, and Brandon Gobershock, 20, of Winston. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Freightliner tanker truck pulled into a center lane to merge onto Highway 42 heading east and a Jeep Liberty, driven by a 19-year-old Winston man, abruptly stopped in the left lane as the tanker truck merged into the center turn lane. A Mack log truck, driven by a 28-year-old Roseburg man, was traveling east behind the Jeep. The log truck braked, however, was unable to stop in time and struck the Jeep from behind. Romans and Gobershock, passengers in the Jeep, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The Jeep’s driver was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Mack truck’s driver was not injured.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 31
• 12:24 p.m. — Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 199 about 10 miles south of Cave Junction that took the life of John Anton Renner IV, 59, of Brookings. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Renner was driving south in a Chevrolet Avalanche when the vehicle left the highway for unknown reasons, hit a group of trees and caught on fire. Renner was pronounced deceased at the scene.
