FRIDAY, AUG. 18
• 7:21 p.m. — Police responded to a 911 call from an individual who reported concerns about her sister. Police ultimately placed a mental hold on the caller, a 33-year-old South Beach woman. Corvallis Police were unable to locate the sister.
• 8:58 p.m. — Police responded to a reckless driving situation at Philomath City Park involving four males illegally riding pocket bikes. The individuals were warned that they would be cited if caught again.

FRIDAY, AUG. 25
• 7:07 p.m. — Police responded to a firework complaint in the area of Chapel Drive and Deer Creek Way, a particular concern given the potential for wildfire. Those allegedly responsible could not be located.
Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious circumstance at 12:50 a.m. (Main Street), a welfare check at 11:06 a.m. (North 19th Street), reported threats at 11:20 a.m. (College Street and North 20th Place), disorderly conduct at 11:28 a.m. (Main Street), a non-criminal issue at 7:32 p.m. (North Eighth Street) and a traffic complaint at 7:41 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.
SATURDAY, AUG. 26
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog barking at 6:40 a.m. (North 12th Street), parking complaint at 11:51 a.m. (Pioneer Street), a report of fraud at 4:03 p.m. (Main Street) and a noise disturbance at 10:59 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriffs Office on calls at 4:05 a.m. (Fern Road and Airport Road) and 12:44 p.m. (Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway). PPD reported 14 traffic stops.
SUNDAY, AUG. 27
• 9:07 a.m. and 9:08 a.m. — Police filed reports that property had been found at Marys River Park and Natural Area and also in the 1000 block of Applegate Street.
Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious vehicle on private property at 10:22 a.m. (South 13th Street), an abandoned vehicle at 1:17 p.m. (South 16th Street and Timothy Street), a parking complaint of a vehicle parked in front of a fire hydrant at 1:49 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 29th Place), a parking complaint of vehicles blocking a roadway at 2:57 p.m. (North 16th Street and Pioneer Street), an animal complaint at 3:13 p.m. (Highway 20 and Noon Road), a noise disturbance at 6:09 p.m. (South 13th Street) and person assistance at 10:14 p.m. (South 13th Street). PPD reported seven traffic stops.
MONDAY, AUG. 28
• 1:58 p.m. — Police responded to a report of assault at 1:58 p.m. in the 1600 block of Pioneer Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number. Look for a possible update in next week’s report.
Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 issue at 8:56 a.m. (North 14th Street), report of fraud at 2:10 p.m. (North Ninth Street) and suspicious circumstance at 5:16 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 2:13 a.m. (Highway 20 near milepost 46). PPD reported two traffic stops.
TUESDAY, AUG. 29
• 1:13 p.m. — Police reported that warrant service had been conducted in the 1000 Applegate Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number. Look for a possible update in next week’s report.
• 5:51 p.m. — Police responded to a crash at the intersection of North 19th Street and Main Street. No injuries were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included disorderly conduct at 5:45 a.m. (North 18th Street and Pioneer Street), a non-911 issue at 7:45 a.m. (Main Street), dog complaint at 10:53 a.m. (South 15th Street), motorist assistance at 4:21 p.m. (North 19th Street), suspicious vehicle at 7:10 p.m. (Main Street) and a civil dispute involving missing drums at 11:05 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 30
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a parking complaint at 2:12 p.m. (Pioneer Street and North Eighth Street), abandoned vehicle at 2:38 p.m. (Pioneer Street and North Eighth Street), shots heard at 7:43 p.m. (Applegate Street), a city ordinance violation at 8:39 p.m. (Newton Street) and noise disturbance at 11:08 p.m. (South Ninth Street an Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 9:06 p.m. (Southwest Reservoir Road and Southwest West Hills Road, Corvallis). PPD reported no traffic stops.
THURSDAY, AUG. 31
• 10:35 a.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a crash in the 1200 block of North 19th Street. No injuries were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 8:11 a.m. In addition, police assisted the Corvallis Police Department on a call at 9:51 a.m. (Northwest Walnut Boulevard, Corvallis). PPD reported one traffic stop.

TUESDAY, AUG. 1
• 4:53 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a Philomath resident being harassed via phone texts and emails. A 53-year-old Albany woman was later arrested on a charge of telephonic harassment and booked and released from Benton County Jail.
TUESDAY, AUG. 15
• 2:13 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of suspicious circumstances in the Philomath vicinity. The resident mistook an unmarked delivery driver as someone trespassing on his property.
SUNDAY, AUG. 27
• 10:50 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of minors in possession of alcohol at a Philomath residence. A 58-year-old woman who said she was aware of the party was arrested on a charge of furnishing liquor to persons under 21 and issued a criminal citation in lieu of custody.
MONDAY, AUG. 28
• 1:57 p.m. — Deputies stopped a U-haul on Main Street driven by a 36-year-old Augusta, Maine, woman and a 40-year-old Corvallis man that had been reported as stolen out of Maine. It was learned that the mother of the male had filed a false report to “help her grandchildren.” The rental truck was recovered by Corvallis U-haul employees.

• Deputies arrested Jarrod Karl Kaplan, 56, of Eugene, on a charge of criminal negligent homicide in connection with a July 1 paraglider crash that killed a 51-year-old Eugene man. See separate story.

OREGON FATAL CRASHES
MONDAY, AUG. 28
• 4:45 a.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 in Columbia County. David Reeves, 21, of Clatskanie, was killed in the crash and Alexander Jovani Diaz Hernandez, 22, of Longview, Washington, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital. OSP reported that a Toyota Avalon driven by Hernandez was heading west on Highway 30 when for unknown reasons crossed over into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with a Subaru Impreza driven by Reeves.
