FRIDAY, OCT. 27

Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious vehicle at 9:16 a.m. (Main Street), narcotics offense at 5:45 p.m. (North 12th Street and Pioneer Street), traffic hazard at 7:02 p.m. (Main Street), shots heard at 8:31 p.m. (North 12th Street and Houser Lane) and a domestic disturbance at 11:58 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SATURDAY, OCT. 28

• 2:49 a.m. — Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at Main Street and Newton Street involving a pickup that hit a power pole on Main Street and Newton Street. The driver was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. See separate story.

• 2:16 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft in the 100 block of North 15th Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

• 6:15 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting in the 600 block of Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 2:17 a.m. (Applegate Street), welfare check at 11:24 a.m. (North Eighth Street), non-911 issues (South Seventh Street) and a person screaming for help at 9:51 p.m. (Pioneer Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

SUNDAY, OCT. 29

• 3:16 p.m. — Police responded to a report of assault at a South 14th Street location. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 4:26 a.m. (North Eighth Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on calls at 12:55 a.m. (Southwest 53rd Street and Southwest Reservoir Avenue, Corvallis) and 11:25 p.m. (South 13th Street and Chapel Drive) and also assisted another agency on calls at 7:54 p.m. (North 14th Street and College Street) and 8:09 p.m. (College Street). MONDAY, OCT. 30

• 9:30 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft in the 600 block of Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

TUESDAY, OCT. 31

• 7:47 p.m. — Police responded to a report of assault in the 600 block of Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included a domestic argument at 2:02 p.m. (North 14th Street), welfare checks at 4:51 p.m. and 6:28 p.m. (Adelaide Drive), noise disturbance at 7:17 p.m. (South 16th Street) and an emergency message at 11:26 p.m. (North 20th Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 1:51 a.m. (Kings Valley Highway). PPD reported four traffic stops.

FOLLOW-UP REPORTS

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 25

• 3:45 p.m. — Police arrested a 14-year-old juvenile on a misdemeanor assault charge and another 14-year-old juvenile on a second-degree disorderly conduct charge and referred them to the Benton County Juvenile Department following an incident in a gravel parking lot near Philomath High School. A third 14-year-old juvenile had been assaulted after school and the fight was recorded and posted on social media.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 25

• 5:09 a.m. — Deputies arrested Joslyn Lee King, 21, of Philomath, on a felony charge of first-degree criminal mischief/crime damage following an incident at a Marys River Road residence. King, who was also charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, harassment and second-degree criminal trespass, all misdemeanors, was taken to Benton County Jail but was not lodged and issued criminal citations and a no-contact release agreement.

SUNDAY, OCT. 29

• 5:17 p.m. — Deputies responded to a littering complaint on Heritage Hills Drive involving the dumping of two couches from a rented truck on private property. The truck had a “Chucky” doll strapped to the grill. The deputy recognized the truck’s description after seeing it at a concert the previous night and contacted the owner. The owner said his help must have tried to save money and dumped the couches and then sent two other helpers to pick them up. The property owner did not wish to pursue charges.

TUESDAY, OCT. 31

• 2:45 p.m. — Deputies responded to a crash involving a Jeep that rear-ended a Kia Optima while both vehicles were turning onto Grange Hall Road. The collision forced the Kia into the path of a Ford Taurus. A juvenile passenger in one of the vehicles complained of a possible injury.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 1

• 1:01 a.m. — Deputies arrested a 19-year-old Madison, Mississippi, man on a misdemeanor criminal charge of reckless driving along with other citations following a traffic stop on Highway 20 in Blodgett. The driver had reportedly been driving at speeds in excess of 100 mph.

• 3:30 p.m. — Deputies issued a criminal citation to a 40-year-old Philomath man for a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended that followed an incident that had occurred two days earlier.

FATAL CRASHES

TUESDAY, OCT. 31

• 259 p.m. — Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 about 3 miles south of Eugene that took the life of Edward Norman Guidry, 70, of Cottage Grove. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a semitractor-trailer operated by a 49-year-old Eugene man heading north on I-5 slowed down for traffic congestion due to a crash further up the interstate. A Ford cargo van, driven by Guidry, approached the congestion at highway speeds and rear-ended the semi. He was declared deceased at the scene. The semi driver suffered minor injuries.
