SATURDAY, AUG. 19
• 3:14 a.m. — Police arrested a 25-year-old Philomath woman on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol .08 through .14) at Southwest Reservoir Avenue and Southwest West Hills Road, Corvallis.
SUNDAY, AUG. 20
• 4:03 a.m. — Police were involved in an elude situation at Northwest Walnut Boulevard and Northwest Elmwood Drive in Corvallis. Police had attempted to stop a newer model Dodge Challenger for reckless driving.
MONDAY, AUG. 21
• 5:20 p.m. — Police responded to a crash involving a vehicle that hit a bicycle in the intersection of North 19th Street and Main Street. The driver hit the bicyclist while turning south from Main Street onto South 19th Street and initially did not realize the incident had occurred, according to a report. The bicyclist fell to the ground with a minor injury and a damaged bicycle. The vehicle had minor damage to its right rear side.
TUESDAY, AUG. 22
• 11:25 a.m. — Police took a report of fraud involving someone opening a bank account in a Philomath resident’s name and charging a total of $9,488. The account had been turned over to a collection agency.
WEDNESDAY, AUG. 23
• 9:42 a.m. —Police responded to a report of theft in the 3200 block of Southwood Drive involving a garbage container taken from the front of a residence.
MONDAY, AUG. 28
• 1:58 p.m. — Police arrested a 57-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree assault for an incident in the 1600 block of Pioneer Street.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 1
• 9:52 p.m. — Police responded to a driving under the influence of intoxicants situation at North 14th Street and Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious circumstance at 10:33 a.m. (Adelaide Drive), theft at 3:02 p.m. (North Eighth Street), dog at large at 6:54 p.m. (Dampier Drive and College Street) and person assistance at 10:44 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted Corvallis Police on a call at 2:11 a.m. (Northwest 11th Street and Northwest Monroe Avenue, Corvallis). PPD reported four traffic stops.

• No calls of significance were reported.
Calls: Police assisted Corvallis Police on a call at 11:57 p.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest Country Club Drive). PPD reported one traffic stop.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 3
• 11:42 a.m. — Police responded to a criminal mischief call in the 2100 block of Applegate Street involving eggs that had been thrown at a travel trailer. There was reportedly no damage and police had no suspects.
Other calls: Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 2:12 a.m. (Northwest 53rd Street and Northwest Harrison Boulevard). PPD reported one traffic stop.
MONDAY, SEPT. 4
• 8:03 p.m. — Police responded to a report of threats in the 2000 block of Applegate Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
• 11:16 p.m. — Police responded to a call involving unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle at North 15th Street and Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responded to a domestic disturbance involving two family members at 12:30 p.m. (South 19th Street). PPD reported 12 traffic stops.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 5
• 9:26 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at Fawn Lane and Coastal View Drive. The individuals were told they were on private property and advised them to leave.
Other calls: Police responses included an animal complaint at 8:10 a.m. (North Ninth Street), property found at 10:51 a.m. (North 13th Street), city ordinance violation at 1:54 p.m. (Main Street), citizen contact at 5:16 p.m. (Applegate Street), traffic hazard at 5:35 p.m. (Main Street and Newton Street), parking complaint at 9:04 p.m. (North Eighth Street) and an argument at 11:22 p.m. (Chapel Drive). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 5:03 p.m. on South 13th Street. PPD reported four traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 6
• 1:36 a.m. and 2:42 a.m. — Police responded to reports of narcotics offenses at 1:36 a.m. and 2:42 a.m. both in the 1400 block of Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than reports were taken with case numbers assigned to each.
• 10:15 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a woman bit by a dog on Grouse Place. The woman was OK and the incident was filed with a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 issue at 3:08 am. (North Eighth Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 10:07 p.m. (Newton Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 12:52 a.m. (Foxglove Lane). PPD reported no traffic stops.

• 12:42 p.m. — Police reported a driving while suspended call at North 13th Street and Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
• 1:16 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 1400 block of Main Street. No other details were immediately available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

FRIDAY, AUG. 18
• 10:52 a.m. — Deputies responded to a report of theft at Blodgett Store. An unknown man reportedly pumped $50 in gas, did not pay and left heading west on Highway 20.
TUESDAY, AUG. 22
• 9:41 p.m. — Deputies arrested an 18-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs) after a traffic stop involving a violation of towing safety requirements. The man and a second 18-year-old Philomath man were both cited for possession marijuana under the age of 21.
FRIDAY, AUG. 25
• 9:20 a.m. — Deputies responded to a report of a crash involving a vehicle over an embankment on the north side of Highway 34 and Botkin Road. Deputies were told the crash had occurred the previous day at around 5:30 a.m. while the driver and passenger were on their way to work in Philomath. The driver, a 29-year-old Alsea resident, reportedly had injuries but was doing fine. The passenger, a 34-year-old Lebanon man, was not injured and reported to work on the day of the crash. The driver said the crash was the result of a road rage incident in the curves coming down the hill. There was no description of the second vehicle.
SATURDAY, AUG. 26
• 12:37 p.m. — Deputies responded to a crash involving a 46-year-old female bicyclist and a vehicle at Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway. See separate story.
MONDAY, AUG. 28
• 2:02 a.m. — Deputies arrested a 40-year-old Corvallis man on a warrant out of Maine and on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree child neglect following a traffic stop on Highway 20. A 36-year-old Augusta, Maine, woman was also arrested on second-degree child neglect, which involved two juveniles sleeping in a camp trailer while it was being towed. The woman was cited in lieu of custody and the man lodged at Benton County Jail on the warrant.
TUESDAY, AUG. 29
• 9:02 a.m. — Deputies issued a warning to a Blodgett resident for allowing a dog to run onto a neighbor’s property and harass that resident’s dogs, a situation that reportedly has been an ongoing issue.
• 9:34 a.m. — Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash involving an 18-year-old male Seal Rock driver on Highway 20 about 4 miles west of Philomath. No injuries were reported.
THURSDAY, AUG. 31
• 10:29 a.m. — Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of North 19th Street. The driver, a 25-year-old Philomath man, reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a wet road surface while accelerating from a turn. No injuries were reported.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 7
• 5:58 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 19-year-old Newport man on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (drugs) and a person under 21 possessing/consuming marijuana while driving following a traffic stop on Highway 20 in Blodgett. Deputies originally stopped the driver for passing a vehicle at 81 mph and found to be driving while suspended.
• 10:38 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 42-year-old Stayton man on a driving while suspended charge in the 100 block of South 14th Street following a traffic stop.

CRASHES WITH FATALITIES
THURSDAY, AUG. 31
• 5:18 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101 about 11 miles south of Gold Beach in Curry County. Brandon Michael Cunliffe Owen, 34, of Brookings, was killed in the crash and Skyanna Marie Goodland, 42, of Tillamook, was extricated and transported to a local hospital. A 50-year-old Brookings woman was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. OSP reported that a preliminary investigation indicates that a Subaru Outback driven by Goodland was heading north on Highway 101 when it crossed the centerline and sideswiped a Chrysler Pacifica before striking head-on a Hyundai Veloster driven by Cunliffe Owen.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 2
• 3:10 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a car-motorcycle crash on Highway 230 in Jackson County just south of the line with Douglas County. Richard L. Silverman, 66, of Portland, was killed in the crash. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Toyota Corolla driven by Thomas B. Austen, 70, of Auckland, New Zealand, crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck head-on a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Silverman. Austen and his 68-year-old passenger were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
• 8:52 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 228 about 3 miles southeast of Sweet Home in Linn County. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Subaru WRX driven by Joshua C. Jefferson, 39, of Sweet Home, was heading east when it left the roadway and struck several trees. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 5
• 1:10 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 about 5 miles north of Columbia City in Columbia County. Michael Robert Pohl, 59, of Rainier, was killed in the crash. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Ford E-250 driven by Beverly Ann Seymore, 45, of Rainier, was heading east when it crossed the center line and struck head-on a Nissan Frontier driven by Pohl. Seymore was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. Pohl was declared deceased at the scene.
• 5:02 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 about 2 miles west of Toledo in Lincoln County. James Richard Lebo, 70, of Wrangell, Alaska, was killed in the crash. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Suzuki Sidekick driven by Lebo, 70, was headed east when it veered into the oncoming lane and struck head-on a Toyota Tacoma driven by a 49-year-old Toledo man. The driver of the Tacoma was not injured. Lebo was declared deceased at the scene.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 6
• 7:33 a.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle-motorcycle crash on Highway 62 in Jackson County. Jamie Davenport, 38, of Shady Cove, died from injuries he received in the crash. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Yamaha motorcycle driven by Davenport was headed south on Crater Lake Highway and making an east turn on Avenue H while a Toyota Highlander driven by a 65-year-old Medford woman was northbound proceeding through a green light. The motorcycle made a left turn in front of the Toyota, which was unable to avoid the collision. Davenport was critically injured and later died at a hospital. The Toyota driver was not injured.
• 11:20 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle-pedestrian collision on Highway 62 near White City in Jackson County. The pedestrian, Joshua Branca, 48, of Manhattan Beach, California, was killed in the incident. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by a 63-year-old Eagle Point man was headed east when it struck Branca, who had walked into the lane of travel. The driver was not injured. Branca was declared deceased at the scene.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 7
• 2:15 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle-motorcycle crash on Highway 101 near Waldport in Lincoln County. Alex Gomez, 27, of Toledo, was killed in the crash. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by James Semrau, 62, of Eugene, was turning left onto Highway 101 from North Bayview Road while a Kawasaki EX motorcycle driven by Gomez was northbound. At the intersection, the motorcycle struck the Dodge as it crossed the northbound lane and caught fire. An OSP trooper arrived at the scene moments later and extinguished the fire. Gomez was pronounced deceased at the scene. Semrau was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 8
• 5:04 p.m. — Oregon State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 11 near Highway 332 north of Milton-Freewater in Umatilla County. Prithvi Singh, 30, of Milton-Freewater, was killed in the crash. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet Spark driven by Singh exited the parking lot of a convenience store and turned north into the continuous left-turn lane. The Chevrolet continued and entered into the northbound lane, where it was struck from behind by an Acura MDX driven by Vicki Pearce, 62, of Walla Walla, Washington. The Spark traveled uncontrollably into the southbound lanes where it struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 38-year-old Milton-Freewater woman. Pearce suffered minor injuries and the driver and a passenger in the Jeep were transported via private vehicle to a Walla Walla hospital with minor injuries. Singh was pronounced deceased at the scene.
