PPD reported one traffic stop.

In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 11:55 p.m. (Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.
MONDAY, JAN. 1
• 10:35 a.m. — Police arrested a 28-year-old Corvallis man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended during a traffic stop at Applegate Street and South 16th Street.
Other calls: Police responses included an overdose situation at 3:20 p.m., traffic hazard at 4:10 p.m. (North 13th Street and Pioneer Street) and a city ordinance at 10:33 p.m. (South 23rd Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at 7:45 p.m. (Gellatly Way). PPD reported eight traffic stops.
TUESDAY, JAN. 2
• 1:55 p.m. — Police responded to a report of an irate customer at a gas station on Main Street. The man was not found during an area check and police determined that no crime had been committed but he was to be trespassed from local gas stations.
Other calls: Police responses included a city ordinance violation at 1:36 p.m. (Applegate Street), unsecured premises at 3:33 p.m. (South 15th Street) and a city ordinance violation at 11:15 p.m. (South 11th Street). PPD reported seven traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 3
• 6:08 a.m. — Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 200 block of South 13th Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
• 10:02 a.m. — Police arrested a 36-year-old Philomath man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended during a traffic stop at Main Street and Clemens Mill Road.
• 2:21 p.m. — Police responded to a fraud complaint from an individual on Deer Creek Way. A report was filed and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious vehicle at 11:10 a.m. (Peterson Road and Southwest Airport Avenue), suspicious circumstance at 6:09 p.m. (North 15th Street and Pioneer Street) and citizen contact (Pinnacle Place). PPD reported three traffic stops.
THURSDAY, JAN. 4
• 6:03 p.m. — Police responded to a crash on Southwest Airport Avenue involving a driver who went off the road and through a sign and fence. See separate story.
• 10:51 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 1900 block of Main Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.
Other calls: Police responses included an animal complaint at 11:08 a.m. (Bobwhite Place), abandoned vehicle at 3:44 p.m. (Pioneer Street), unknown problem at 6:11 p.m. (North Ninth Street) and a suspicious vehicle at 7:35 p.m. (Industrial Way and Summerton Way). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 8:57 p.m. (Clemens Mill Road and Main Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

TUESDAY, DEC. 26
• 2:23 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of harassment involving a local woman’s ex-boyfriend. The victim was told about the possibility of obtaining a restraining order and the man was told that if he attempted to continue contacting the woman, he could be arrested.
SUNDAY, DEC. 31
• 4:59 p.m. — Deputies arrested a 41-year-old Bend man on a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended during a traffic stop on Highway 20 near Priest Road.

FATAL CRASHES
MONDAY, JAN. 1
• 9:35 a.m. — Troopers responded to a crash on HIghway 101 about 3 miles south of Langlois that took the life of Josiah James Selvy, 19, of Port Orford. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Selvy was driving north on Highway 101 when his Toyota Corolla crossed into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Chevrolet 2500 pulling a 25-foot trailer. The driver of the Chevy, an 80-year-old Clearlake, Washington, man, swerved in an attempt to avoid the Toyota but was stopped by the guardrail. Selvy was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the Chevy were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two dogs in the vehicle were taken to a local animal rescue for temporary care.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 3
• 5:27 p.m. — Troopers responded to a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 about five miles north of Medford that took the life of Douglas James Flood, 81, of Gold Hill. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 64-year-old Central Point woman crashed into the center wire barrier for unknown reasons. Multiple subsequent crashes followed at the location involving nine vehicles, including a Toyota Tercel driven by Flood. Flood was pronounced deceased following transport to a local hospital. Troopers said he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Traffic on I-5 was detoured for approximately five hours.
