The Philomath High School wrestling team won 14 of 20 matches in an outdoor meet Tuesday at Central.
Issiah Blackburn at 195 pounds and Connar Kohn at 220 both finished 2-0 in their bouts. Three other wrestlers — Ben Hernandez at 120, Blake Niemann at 126 and Chase Ringwald at 126 — finished 1-0.
Jacob Williams saw action against three opponents and won two of them.
Every wrestler that competed for the Warriors won at least once. Caleb Blackburn at 132, Gradin Fairbanks at 138, David Griffith at 152, Blaise Pindell at 182 and Joseph Choi at 285 all went 1-1 on the mat.
Joining the host school and Philomath in Independence for the meet was West Albany. Dallas had been scheduled to make an appearance but did not participate. Wrestling mats were taken outside and set up on Central’s turf football field.
Results from individual matches were not available.
Philomath will wrestle at home Thursday at 4 p.m. with Tillamook, Banks and Estacada all set to participate.
