The Philomath High School’s Shining Stars dance team will host a kids dance camp on Aug. 8-10, the program announced.
The camp will be for all kids ages 4-14 and take place at PHS from 8-10 a.m. on all three days. Participants will learn stretching, dance technique, dance routines, play games and build friendships and community.
A finale performance for all campers’ family and friends is scheduled for 10 a.m. on the final day.
The camp is $50 per dancer and participants can register online or on the first day of camp.
All proceeds will go to support the dance program for the 2024-25 season, which includes costumes, choreography expenses, team meals at competitions and several other items.
The Shining Stars are a competitive dance team that competes at multiple competitions around the state and compete each year at the OSAA state championships in March. Last year, the team competed in jazz, contemporary and hip-hop categories and has also had numerous all-state members, academic scholarship winners, Drill Down Award winners and Thunderbird Dance Camp awards.
