The Philomath High School volleyball team won two of three matches and reached the championship round at Saturday’s North Marion Tournament.
Coming out of pool play, the Warriors were matched up against Astoria and the team advanced with a 25-16, 19-25, 21-19 victory. Philomath then rolled to a 25-9, 25-17 win over Cottage Grove in the semifinals. The Lions had won 20 of 24 sets coming into the match.
Philomath faced Burns, a top Class 3A school that entered the match with a 10-1 record. Burns downed the Warriors in three sets, 25-23, 16-25, 15-10.
Philomath (4-3) will now turn its attention to Oregon West Conference play with a Tuesday match at home vs. Sweet Home.
