A Philomath High boys golf trio made an appearance Thursday at a tournament at Santiam Golf Club near Aumsville with senior Roman Robins and freshmen Conrad Yates and Corbin Black playing 18 holes.

Robins finished with a 44 on the front nine and a 47 on the back for a total of 91, a performance that put him 12th in the individual results. A highlight for Robins occurred on the par-4 seventh hole when he had a birdie.

Yates finished 23rd with a 114 and Black was 26th with a 121.

Cascade won the team title by 13 strokes over runner-up Junction City. Individually, Junction City senior Jackson Roderick won in a close battle over Cascade teammates Grant Hemelstrand, a junior, and Clark Clayton, a senior. Roderick had a six-over 78 with both Hemelstrand and Clayton coming in with a 79.

Philomath’s next competition is scheduled for Monday at Cross Creek Golf Club at Dallas. The varsity players are scheduled to begin at 11:25 a.m.
