Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, MAY 2

• 12:21 a.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call involving a disturbance at a Kings Valley Highway residence that led to the BCSO arrest of a 36-year-old woman on a misdemeanor charge of harassment with physical contact.

• 11:43 a.m. — Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1700 block of Cedar Street involving a verbal argument that led to hand/wrist injuries. Neither person involved wanted to pursue charges.

• 5:20 p.m. — Police arrested a 41-year-old Albany woman in the 1700 block of Main Street on a bench warrant out of Linn County Circuit Court for failure to appear. The woman was originally arrested in September on theft and methamphetamine possession charges. The Philomath arrest also included charges of shoplifting and meth possession.

Other calls: Police responses included an abandoned vehicle at 2:15 p.m. (Adelaide Drive) and citizen assistance at 6:53 p.m. (South 14th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

SATURDAY, MAY 3

• 2 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance involving two men who were loading a vehicle into a trailer at Philomath Market. No crime was reported.

• 7:18 p.m. — Police responded to a report of littering by a property owner on North 19th Street reportedly involving a couch that had been dumped by a repeat offender.

Other calls: Police responses included a noise disturbance at 6:46 p.m. (North 14th Street). PPD reported 22 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MAY 4

• 10:59 a.m. — Police responded to a domestic disturbance on North 14th Street involving two individuals in a verbal argument. They were advised of the disorderly conduct law.

Other calls: Police responses included barking dogs at 10:53 a.m. (North 14th Street), dogs at large at 11:25 a.m. (South 19th Street), noise disturbance at 12:22 p.m. (North 14th Street), animal welfare check at 2:58 p.m. (North 14th Street), deceased cat on a property at 5:04 p.m. (Newton Street) and a dog at large at 7:52 p.m. (South 16th Street). PPD reported seven traffic stops.

MONDAY, MAY 5

• 2:19 a.m. — Police arrested a 22-year-old Manteca, California, man at Main Street and South 24th Street on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence (undetermined) while responding to a report of a vehicle on fire. Philomath Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire.

• 11:43 a.m. — Police responded to a report of an individual’s ex-girlfriend who would not return a dog after watching it for a week. The situation was determined to be a civil issue.

• 2:06 p.m. — Police performed a welfare check on College Street involving a small child who was reportedly running around outside with no parental supervision. 

• 2:32 p.m. — Police arrested a 76-year-old Philomath man in the 1400 block of Main Street on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants (undetermined), reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street following a report of a vehicle that was high-centered on a curb after causing minor damage to another vehicle.

Other calls: PPD reported four traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MAY 6

• 5:40 p.m. — Police arrested a 39-year-old Corvallis man in the 2000 block of Applegate Street on a warrant.

Other calls: Police responses included a police officer hold at 11:45 a.m. (North Eighth Street) and a traffic hazard at 5:22 p.m. (Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway). PPD reported one traffic stop.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 7

• 1:27 a.m. — Police arrested a 34-year-old Philomath man at North 11th Street and Pioneer Street on a charge of driving while suspended.

• 1:42 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a suspicious person walking around in a neighborhood of a teen or man in his early 20s with a phone and tablet walking around and knocking on doors. No crime was reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a dog complaint at 8:32 a.m. (North Eighth Street) and a suicidal subject at 4:41 p.m. PPD reported one traffic stop.

THURSDAY, MAY 8

• 11:22 a.m. — Police responded to a single-vehicle crash at South 16th Street and Chapel Drive involving a driver that had a diabetic issue and reportedly fell asleep while crashing into a ditch. Philomath Fire and Rescue had to extricate the driver by removing the vehicle’s roof. The driver was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

• 7:59 p.m. — Police arrested a 29-year-old Philomath woman on felony charge of fourth-degree assault after responding to a report of a domestic disturbance (name and location not included to protect minor children in the household). The woman was transported to Benton County Jail.

Other calls: Police responses included a civil dispute at 12:33 a.m. (Pioneer Street) and harassment at 7:51 a.m. (North Eighth Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.
