Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, JUNE 6

• 12:11 a.m. — Police arrested a 50-year-old Lebanon man on a warrant for contempt of court during a stop at Highway 20 and Shrike Way.

• 8:35 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a man riding around a neighborhood and stopping at the end of driveways. Police were unable to locate the individual.

• 11:38 a.m. — Police responded to a report of identity theft involving a W2 form that had been received. 

• 5:28 p.m. — Police responded to a fender-bender crash in the parking lot of Dollar General. No injuries were reported and the drivers exchanged information.

• 7:14 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft involving a weed trimmer that was stolen from the bed of a pickup. The weed trimmer was valued at $650.

Other calls: Police responses included child abuse report at 1:41 p.m., and a welfare check at 4:43 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

SATURDAY, JUNE 7

• 5:50 a.m. — Police conducted a death investigation in the 400 block of Mevill Cres. In the early morning hours, a 90-year-old woman died in her home. Police reported no suspicious circumstances.

• 9:38 p.m. — Police responded to a report of possible gunshots in the area of Quail Glenn. The area was patrolled with no suspicious behavior observed.

Other calls: Police responses included the need for a drug recognition expert at 1:06 a.m. (Northwest Third Street, Corvallis), animal complaint at noon (Main Street) and a traffic hazard at 4:38 p.m. (Highway 20 and Woods Creek Road), PPD reported 13 traffic stops.

SUNDAY, JUNE 8

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included harassment at 9:39 a.m. (Applegate Street), welfare check at 1:53 p.m. (South 19th Street) and citizen contact at 1:59 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.

MONDAY, JUNE 9

• 7:28 a.m. — Police responded to a report of criminal mischief from a resident on South 13th Street involving a mailbox that had been hit. Police planned to contact a neighbor for possible camera footage.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a suspicious vehicle at 8:46 a.m. (North 19th Street), city ordinance violation at 9:55 a.m. (Main Street), suspicious vehicle with potential road rage at 3:49 p.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest 26th Street, Corvallis) and a found dog at 7:21 p.m. (South 11th Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 4:43 a.m. (Northwest 53rd Street, Corvallis), 5:36 a.m. (Hidden Valley Road) and 12:20 p.m. (Hidden Valley Road). PPD reported two traffic stops.

TUESDAY, JUNE 10

• 6:24 p.m. — Police arrested a 43-year-old Philomath man in the 200 block of North 13th Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a criminal citation. Because Benton County Jail was full, the man was cited in lieu of custody.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 1:21 p.m. (Applegate Street), non-criminal issue at 5:19 p.m. (South 19th Street), animal complaint at 9:10 p.m. (North 14th Street) and a domestic disturbance involving a juvenile at 9:56 p.m. PPD reported one traffic stop.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11

• 1:37 a.m. — Police responded to a neighborhood dispute involving tenants at an apartment complex on North Eighth Street. It was determined to be a civil issue.

• 11:44 a.m. — Police responded to the 900 block of Main Street for a report of a man throwing things at vehicles. Police determined that the man had not caused any damage and was asked to move along.

Other calls: Police responses included possible harassment at 10:30 p.m. (North 14th Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

THURSDAY, JUNE 12

• 10:09 p.m. — Police took a 56-year-old woman into protective custody following an attempted suicide. She was transported by medics to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

Other calls: Police responses included found property at 5:53 p.m. (Applegate Street) and domestic disturbance at 8:51 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 10:33 a.m. (Southwest Englewood Avenue, Corvallis). PPD reported eight traffic stops.
