Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, OCT. 10

• 3:24 p.m. — Police responded to a report of attempted fraud involving a citizen who received a virus alert that appeared to come from Microsoft. According to an incident report, someone claiming to work for that company instructed the Philomath resident to withdraw $20,000 from his bank to return to Microsoft because of an error that they had made. The resident did not give them the money and reported it to the police.

• 9:52 p.m. — Police at the request of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office contacted the owner of a vehicle that had been reported stolen and was recovered in Newport.

Other calls: Police responses included a 911 hangup call at 9:14 a.m. (College Street), dog complaint at 3:41 p.m. (North 13th Street), private property tow at 5:10 p.m. (Main Street), dog barking at 8:49 p.m. (Vincent Street) and harassing phone calls at 9:16 p.m. (North 11th Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SATURDAY, OCT. 11

• 4:04 p.m. — Police arrested a 24-year-old Philomath man in the 3500 block of Northwest Harrison Boulevard in Corvallis on a misdemeanor charge of violating a no-contact release agreement.

Other calls: Police responses included an extra patrol at 5:27 a.m. (Main Street), event detail at 9:55 a.m. (Main Street) and a suspicious vehicle at 2:34 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 8:52 p.m. (Heritage Hills Drive). PPD reported seven traffic stops.

SUNDAY, OCT. 12

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included city employee assistance at 10:50 a.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported 20 traffic stops.

MONDAY, OCT. 13

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a foot patrol at 6:32 a.m. (South 11th Street), found property at 10:57 a.m. (North 19th Street), abandoned vehicle at 10:57 a.m. (North 11th Street and Quail Glenn Drive), city ordinance violation at 11:25 a.m. (Main Street), suspicious circumstance at 11:46 a.m. (North 14th Street) and a suspicious person at 8:33 p.m. (North 19th Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

TUESDAY, OCT. 14

• 7:42 a.m. — Police responded to a report from a resident of a coyote sniffing around yards in the area of Applegate Street and South 23rd Street at a time when children were walking to school.

• 7:48 a.m. — Police responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Main Street. Philomath Fire and Rescue reported minor injuries.

• 9:44 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a vehicle-motor scooter incident at Applegate Street and South 10th Street. According to an incident report, a motorist hit the scooter, knocking the pedestrian to the ground. Minor injuries were reported.

• 4:06 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a large snake at Mount Union Cemetery. The caller believed the snake to be a python but upon investigation, it was determined to be a large bull snake or gopher snake.

• 4:27 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at Main Street and South 26th Street. No injuries or vehicle damage were reported.

• 4:47 p.m. — Police assisted at the scene of a vehicle fire on Highway 34 near Bevens Park Lane.

• 10:39 p.m. — Police arrested a 48-year-old Philomath woman on a parole violation warrant during a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1200 block of Pioneer Street. The woman was transported to Linn County Jail.

Other calls: Police responses included a parking complaint at 2:12 p.m. (North 11th Street and Quail Glenn Drive), non-911 issue at 2:25 p.m. (North 15th Street), dog barking at 9:45 p.m. (Vincent Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 11:08 p.m. (North Eighth Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 7:15 p.m. (Clemens Mill Road). PPD reported four traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 15

• 6:13 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a crash at Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest 35th Street in Corvallis. No injuries were reported.

• 6:34 p.m. — Police responded to a report of shots fired, possibly by hunters, that were heard behind a house on private property in Benton County.

Other calls: Police responses included a traffic hazard at 4:04 a.m. (North 19th Street and Main Street), citizen assistance at 11:04 a.m. (College Street), citizen assistance at 11:12 a.m. (North 20th Street), citizen assistance at 4:19 p.m. (Pioneer Street) and a dog barking at 9:20 p.m. (South 17th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

THURSDAY, OCT. 16

• 6:08 a.m. — Police arrested a 48-year-old Philomath woman on a misdemeanor charge of harassment with physical contact/simple assault following an incident at a residence on North 19th Street.

• 2:36 p.m. — Police arrested a 60-year-old Corvallis man at Southwest Technology Loop and Southwest 53rd Street in Corvallis on misdemeanor charges of failure to appear in court on a criminal citation.

Other calls: Police responses included an animal complaint at 1:52 p.m. (North 15th Street and Pioneer Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 2:32 p.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis). PPD reported two traffic stops.
