Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 11
• 2:40 a.m. — Police arrested a 49-year-old Philomath man in the 600 block of South 19th Street on warrants from two jurisdictions — one for failure to appear on a criminal citation, the other for a probation violation. The man was issued citations and updated court appearance dates.
• 10 a.m. — Police responded to a report of illegal camping at Marys River Park and Natural Area. Upon arrival, one vehicle was gone and the other was advised of park hours.
• 4:49 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 400 block of South 31st Street. The individual believed she was providing information from purchased gift cards to a work supervisor, but it turned out to be a scam artist.
Other calls: Police responses included the towing of an abandoned vehicle (South 21st Street), noise disturbance at 5:34 p.m. (Vincent Street), civil dispute at 6:10 p.m. (Applegate Street) and citizen assistance at 9:46 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 9:42 p.m. (Highway 34). PPD reported three traffic stops.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 12
• 8:31 p.m. — Police responded to a report of an argument in the 1800 block of Main Street involving a female seen yelling from her vehicle at the vehicle in front of her. It was discovered that the woman was just warning the other driver of sparks that could be seen coming from the vehicle.
Other calls: Police responses included a mental health-related call at 2:05 a.m. (Applegate Street), extra patrol duty at 9:12 a.m. (Applegate Street), juvenile complaint at 10:56 a.m. (South 19th Street) and a verbal disturbance at 11:58 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported eight traffic stops.
SUNDAY, SEPT. 13
• 7:52 p.m. — Police arrested a 36-year-old Portland man in the 200 block of South 23rd Street on a warrant out of Lebanon Municipal Court. The man was cited and released.
Other calls: Police responses included an ongoing issue of a neighbor dog getting into another person’s yard at 4:43 p.m. (North 13th Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 10:39 p.m. (Highway 20 and Shrike Way) and 10:52 p.m. (Highway 34). PPD reported three traffic stops.
MONDAY, SEPT. 14
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included harassment at 9:14 a.m. (Newton Street), civil issue at 10:15 a.m. (North 10th Street and Main Street), alleged violation of no-contact order at 12:13 p.m. (South 23rd Street), overdose/poisoning at 1:15 p.m. (College Street), criminal mischief involving a spray-painted sidewalk at 3:43 p.m. (Applegate Street), non-911 issue at 4:22 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive) and contact with a suicidal subject at 5:28 p.m. PPD reported no traffic stops.
TUESDAY, SEPT. 15
• 10:46 p.m. — Police arrested a 32-year-old Philomath woman at Main Street and North 20th Street on four active warrants out of Benton County Circuit Court. The woman was cited and released.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog found at 8:08 a.m. (South 16th Street), extra patrol duty at 9:34 a.m. (South 11th Street) and a noncriminal issue at 1:04 p.m. (Skirvin Park). PPD reported no traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 16
• 5:35 p.m. — Police responded to a vicious dog incident at Philomath City Park involving a pit bull mix that attacked a small poodle while the owner was walking in the park. The poodle was taken to a veterinarian for care of minor bite wounds to the head.
Other calls: Police responses included threats made through an online gaming app at 6:36 p.m. (Pioneer Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 6:55 a.m. (Highway 20 and Kings Valley Highway). PPD reported two traffic stops.
THURSDAY, SEPT. 17
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 12:58 a.m. (Main Street), dog complaint at 9:41 a.m. (North 12th Street), verbal argument at 12:53 p.m. (Main Street), animal complaint at 3:18 p.m. (North 20th Street), dogs at large at 4:32 p.m. (North 12th Street) and a parking complaint at 6:28 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 1:08 a.m. (Highway 20) and 2:50 p.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard, Corvallis). PPD reported three traffic stops.
