FRIDAY, JULY 24
• 7:42 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a semitruck that crashed into and destroyed a pedestrian crossing light at Applegate Street and South 13th Street. The truck driver left the scene before law enforcement arrived, however, an investigation led to the driver’s identity.
• 10:18 p.m. — Police arrested a 25-year-old Philomath man at Cedar Street and South 19th Street on an active warrant for failure to appear in court. The man was transported to Benton County Jail.
Other calls: Police responses included fulfilling a request for a drug recognition expert at 12:18 a.m. (Northwest Fifth Street, Corvallis), report of water coming from a curb at 5:21 a.m. (South 13th Street), found a dog at 9:33 a.m. (North 15th Street), noncriminal issue at 9:40 a.m. (North 16th Lane), welfare check on a woman with dementia at 2:21 p.m. (North Ninth Street), city ordinance violation at 3:48 p.m. (North Ninth Street) and a suspicious circumstance at 9:49 p.m. (Willowbrook Drive). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 12:01 a.m. (Highway 20, Blodgett) and 4:06 p.m. (Chapel Drive). PPD reported five traffic stops.
SATURDAY, JULY 25
• 3:22 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at North 19th Street and College Street. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
• 7:23 p.m. — Police arrested Michael D. Lanpheare, 67, of Philomath, in the 400 block of Landmark Drive on a felony charge of coercion and misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person, menacing and second-degree criminal mischief. Lanpheare was transported to Benton County Jail. According to Benton County Circuit Court records, he allegedly rammed a victim’s vehicle with another vehicle. An arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 6.
Other calls: Police responses included a dog barking at 5:15 a.m. (Applegate Street), domestic violence at 6:15 p.m. (Applegate Street), disorderly conduct at 6:48 p.m. (South 11th Street) and a noncriminal issue at 8:38 p.m. (North 15th Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.
SUNDAY, JULY 26
• 8:29 p.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a motorcycle crash at Southwest Airport Avenue and Fern Road. The injured rider was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
Other calls: PPD reported five traffic stops.
MONDAY, JULY 27
• 1:11 p.m. — Police took a report of a sex offense. No other details were made available other than a case number was assigned.
• 3:33 p.m. — Police assisted another agency with the return of a stolen license plate to its owner.
• 5:02 p.m. — Police performed a death investigation of an adult female at a Main Street location.
Other calls: Police responses included a found dog at 7:56 a.m. (North 15th Street), citizen contact at 2:49 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a welfare check at 8:01 p.m. (South 23rd Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.
TUESDAY, JULY 28
• No calls of significance were reported.
Other calls: Police responses included a report of a vehicle damaged while parked at a convenience store at 10:08 a.m. (Main Street), traffic hazard involving a truck stopped at a railroad crossing at 12:24 p.m. (North 19th Street), barking dog complaint at 1:48 p.m. (South 19th Street), unfounded assault claim at 2:26 p.m. (North 16th Lane), lost dog at 4:19 p.m. (Newton Place), juvenile complaint at 4:41 p.m. (North Eighth Street) and loose sheep at 4:59 p.m. (North 18th Street and Pioneer Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 11:02 p.m. (Highway 20 and Lilly Hill Road). PPD reported no traffic stops.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 29
• 6:25 a.m. — Police met with a woman in front of the police station for a report of a stolen vehicle from a location along Highway 99. While contacting dispatch, police were provided with information that the vehicle had been towed as a road hazard.
• 10:11 a.m. — Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 300 block of North Seventh Street. Juveniles were caught on camera ringing doorbells, running away and kicking doors.
• 11:39 a.m. — Police responded to the 200 block of North 14th Street for a report from a woman that she had been scammed out of $13,500 for buying a vehicle in Portland that ended up being stolen.
Other calls: Police responses included a mental health situation at 9:13 a.m. (North 15th Street) and a deer in the road that had been struck at 7:48 p.m. (North Ninth Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.
THURSDAY, JULY 30
• 3:39 p.m. — Police responded to the 300 block of Sunshine Avenue for a report of an injured juvenile hawk in a citizen’s yard.
• 6:11 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle after it had been left for a few hours at Philomath Community Library.
Other calls: Police responses included a deer in the roadway at 6:17 a.m. (Main Street), suspicious circumstance at 1:50 p.m. (Lowther Place), city ordinance violation at 2:22 p.m. (Pioneer Street) and an argument at 9:51 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 11:22 p.m. (Highway 20 and Marys River Estates Road). PPD reported two traffic stops.
