Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, JUNE 26

• 2:04 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at Main Street and South 26th Street. A driver was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries and one of the vehicles involved was towed.

Other calls: Police responses included a city ordinance violation at 9:46 a.m. (Main Street), report of a motor home parked on private property at 1:27 p.m. (South Ninth Street), citizen assistance at 3:27 p.m. (Philomath Police Station) and a bar check at 10:07 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

SATURDAY, JUNE 27

• 4:49 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a burglary in the 1200 block of North 19th Street involving a man who had broken into a shed and taken a BMX bike valued at $1,200.

• 6:55 p.m. — Police arrested a 42-year-old Philomath man in the 300 block of South 11th Street on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree disorderly conduct following an incident at a park. The man was issued a criminal citation in lieu of custody.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of assault during a domestic disturbance at 7:30 a.m. (Main Street), welfare check at 9:13 a.m. (Main Street), baby deer hit by vehicle at 9:21 a.m. (Main Street), citizen assistance at 11:29 a.m. (Philomath Police Station), welfare check at 5:37 p.m. (Newton Street), parking complaint at 5:46 p.m. (Applegate Street) and extra patrol at 10:46 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 10:30 a.m. (Bellfountain Road and Southwest 53rd Street, Corvallis) and 8:30 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive). PPD reported six traffic stops.

SUNDAY, JUNE 28

• 6:33 a.m. — Police responded to a crash near Philomath City Park involving a juvenile male on a dirt bike. After a medical evaluation, the boy was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 2:26 a.m. (Applegate Street), city ordinance violation at 9:53 a.m. (Main Street and South 26th Street), welfare check at 10:03 a.m. (Quail Glenn Drive), mental health situation at 12:29 p.m. (North 14th Street) and a parking complaint at 8:12 p.m. (Philomath High School). PPD reported five traffic stops.

MONDAY, JUNE 29

• 11:27 a.m. — Police responded to an anonymous complaint regarding goats in the backyard of a city residence on North 12th Street without a proper permit on file. The homeowner said permit paperwork had been completed but not yet submitted to Philomath City Hall. The officer planned to follow up in the future to see if the city had approved the permit.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 8:08 a.m. (South 15th Street and Timothy Street), bike traffic at 9:35 a.m. (South 14th Street and Applegate Street), welfare check at 1:13 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a deceased dog at 10:32 p.m. (Main Street and North Seventh Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 4:21 p.m (Highway 20 and Lone Star Road) and 8:37 p.m. (Gray Creek Lane). PPD reported 10 traffic stops.

TUESDAY, JUNE 30

• 12:11 p.m. — Police arrested a 37-year-old Philomath woman in the 1300 block of Houser Lane on two misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear in court on a criminal citation. The woman was cited and released.

• 3:53 p.m. — Police arrested Braian Mendez, 31, of Corvallis, on a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person on Highway 20 in the Wren vicinity west of Philomath. 

• 11:34 p.m. — Police arrested Jonathan Mendoza, 30, of Albany, on a felony charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants and misdemeanor charges of driving on a suspended license, providing false information, reckless driving and other violations during a traffic stop for speeding at Southwest Country Club Drive and Southwest Whiteside Drive in Corvallis.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 2:28 p.m. (North Seventh Street and Main Street), minor in possession of liquor at 5:03 p.m. (Highway 20), overdose at 8:16 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive) and a wallet found at 10:38 p.m. (Philomath Market). PPD reported four traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 1

• 4:50 p.m. — Police responded to a report of theft involving a lost wallet. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: Police responses included disorderly conduct with threats at 12:56 p.m. (South 15th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

THURSDAY, JULY 2

• 9:08 p.m. — Police arrested a 26-year-old Philomath man on misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine. The man was lodged at Benton County Jail.

Other calls: Police responses included a suicidal subject at 8:50 p.m. In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 10:01 a.m. (North Ninth Street). PPD reported seven traffic stops.
