Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. Not all calls for service may be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may be omitted if they could identify victims of crimes of a sensitive nature, such as sexual abuse or stalking. Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls involving the Department of Human Services and minors are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 25

• 9:58 a.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 400 block of South 31st Street involving an individual who provided gift card information to a scammer.

• 10:55 a.m. — Police responded to assist a motorist at Applegate Street and South Ninth Street who claimed an object came off a log truck and struck their vehicle’s windshield.

• 10:57 a.m. — Police took a report of second-degree theft by deception from an individual in the 200 block of North 15th Street. According to the report, an unknown suspect threatened to send or post photos of the individual unless money was received.

Other calls: PPD reported eight traffic stops.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 26

• 4:18 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 800 block of Applegate Street. No injuries were reported.

• 6:44 p.m. — Police responded to a report from an individual in the 3100 block of Main Street that their car had been stolen. Officers found the vehicle nearby and determined the owner had forgotten where it was parked.

• 7:39 p.m. — Police arrested a 33-year-old Toledo man on Highway 20 in Blodgett on misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless endangering and reckless driving. The man was issued a citation in lieu of custody.

Other calls: Police responses included a non-911 issue at 11:47 a.m. (Main Street), city ordinance violation at 11:49 a.m. (Applegate Street), juvenile complaint at 6:27 p.m. (South 24th Street) and a bar check at 10:32 p.m. (Main Street). PPD reported five traffic stops.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 27

• 8:09 a.m. — Police responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Main Street. A woman told police that her vehicle blew a tire as she was coming into town, causing her to strike the median near the railroad tracks by Philomath Family Medicine. According to an incident report, the vehicle hit an Oregon Department of Transportation sign and sustained damage to its undercarriage and front end. It came to rest facing the wrong way on Main Street where it merges with Highway 20. No injuries were reported.

• 1:13 p.m. — Police responded to a report that a storm sewer manhole cover in Philomath City Park had been removed. Police checked inside the storm sewer and secured the cover.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of lost keys at 2:57 p.m. (Applegate Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 5:39 p.m. (Highway 20, Blodgett). PPD reported four traffic stops.

MONDAY, SEPT. 28

• 12:06 p.m. — Police responded to a single-vehicle crash at Main Street and South 11th Street. According to an incident report, a male driver suffered a medical event and crashed into a parked car. No injuries were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a suicidal subject at 11:08 p.m. In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 9:54 a.m. (Highway 20 and Shrike Way). PPD reported one traffic stop.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 29

• 7:41 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Main Street. No injuries were reported.

Other calls: PPD reported no traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 30

• 4:04 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 2400 block of Newton Street. According to an incident report, a vehicle struck two parked cars.

• 8:03 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at Main Street and North 19th Street. No injuries were reported.

• 11:25 a.m. — Police took into custody a gun that had been found by a citizen.

• 8:55 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a group of mailboxes that were open, several with mail inside them at North 12th Street and Houser Lane. There were no reports of missing mail and a nearby resident reported not seeing anyone tampering with the boxes.

Other calls: Police responses included a barking dog complaint at 5:07 a.m. (Applegate Street), motorist assistance at 1:09 p.m. (Main Street), custodial interference at 4:37 p.m. (Main Street) and a vehicle with a broken window at 4:56 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported 11 traffic stops.

THURSDAY, OCT. 1

• 10:22 a.m. — Police responded to a dispute in the 500 block of North Eighth Street between two males arguing over ownership of a pair of scissors. Police determined no crime had been committed

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a care facility resident hitting staff at 10:49 a.m. (South 19th Street), dogs at large at 2:22 p.m. (North 16th Street and Main Street), dog found at 5:15 p.m. (North 12th Street and Houser Lane) and a welfare check at 8:16 p.m. (South 19th Street). PPD reported six traffic stops.
