Editor’s note: This report is based on information submitted by the Philomath Police Department. All calls for service may not be included. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, MARCH 7

• 9:34 a.m. — Police responded to a report of criminal mischief involving the words “No COP” that had been spray painted on the road in the 3300 block of Brentwood Place. Police reported that the city of Philomath’s public works department had spray painted the message to indicate that there were no utilities in that area.

• 1:06 p.m. — Police took possession of a credit card that had been found by a citizen. The bank was contacted and the credit card was canceled.

• 6:12 p.m. — Police received information on an individual’s location involving a possible situation involving the violation of a court order.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen contact at 8:23 a.m. (North 11th Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 12:13 p.m. (Gellatly Way and Snowbird Lane) and 9:36 p.m. (Highway 34). PPD reported three traffic stops.

SATURDAY, MARCH 8

• 2:01 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a threat involving students. Police followed up with the school.

• 10:03 p.m. — A situation involving a citizen at the Mobil gas station on Main Street led to a 65-year-old Scio man getting injured during a motorcycle-related incident. While police made contact with the man, he caused his motorcycle to accelerate rapidly while he was not in the seat. The motorcycle dragged him and he was injured during a fall in the parking lot. The motorcycle crashed at the edge of the lot. The man was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Other calls: Police responses included a found dog at 9:02 a.m. (South 19th Street and Chapel Drive), suicidal subject at 1:09 p.m., property found at 1:10 p.m. (Applegate Street) and a dog barking at 4:21 p.m. (North 13th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MARCH 9

• 1:22 p.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a situation involving a male juvenile who was walking home to Philomath from Corvallis with no shoes. The boy was given a ride home with permission of parents.

Other calls: Police responses included property found at 4:45 p.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

MONDAY, MARCH 10

• 2:36 p.m. — Police made contact with two drivers on Highway 20 that had made complaints against the other’s driving.

• 6:16 p.m. — Police took into possession miscellaneous ammunition that had been found in a ditch during a community cleanup.

• 10:11 p.m. — A woman standing on the center island on Main Street near 15th Street who appeared to be upset was offered assistance by police. 

Other calls: Police responses included a dog at large at 9:26 a.m. (Main Street and South 21st Street), accidental 911 call at 12:14 p.m. (North Seventh Street) and a lost dog at 6:48 p.m. (South 21st Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MARCH 11

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check (Quail Glenn Drive) and a parking complaint at 2:18 p.m. (Newton Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12

• 8:27 a.m. — Police responded to a crash at the intersection of North 19th Street and Main Street. One person was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a runaway at 2:39 a.m. PPD reported two traffic stops.

THURSDAY, MARCH 13

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a civil dispute at 12:06 p.m. (Main Street), disabled vehicle at 2:28 p.m. (South 12th Street and Applegate Street), custodial interference at 2:31 p.m. (South 16th Street), parking complaint at 3:48 p.m. (South 20th Street and Applegate Street), suspicious person at 6:46 p.m. (North 19th Street) and a welfare check at 8:37 p.m. (Marlon Place). PPD reported one traffic stop.
