The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate and may not be included if it could identify victims of certain crimes of a sensitive nature (sexual abuse, stalking, etc.). Individuals are identified in the log only if arrested on felony charges. Calls that involve the Department of Human Services and minor children are not included. Juveniles are not identified. People arrested or suspected of crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

FRIDAY, JULY 17

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of a runaway at 2:10 a.m. (Main Street), noise disturbance at 7:44 a.m. (Main Street), suspicious circumstance at 12:16 p.m. (North Seventh Street), suspicious circumstance at 12:45 p.m. (North 19th Street), noise disturbance at 2:30 p.m. (Main Street) and a non-911 issue at 11:46 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 4:29 p.m. (Southwest Philomath Boulevard and Southwest Country Club Drive, Corvallis) and 4:41 p.m. (Sternwheeler Drive, Corvallis). PPD reported two traffic stops.

SATURDAY, JULY 18

• 6:58 p.m. — Police arrested Tommie L. Willis, 65, of Philomath, on felony charges of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon following a report of a stabbing in the 300 block of North 14th Street. Willis was transported to Benton County Jail. For details on the case, see separate story.

Other calls: Police responses included a parking complaint at 4:17 p.m. (North Seventh Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 4:03 p.m. (Airport Avenue and Peterson Road). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SUNDAY, JULY 19

• 12:05 p.m. — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the 1000 block of Applegate Street. The drivers exchanged information. No injuries were reported.

• 11:07 p.m. — Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 300 block of North 16th Lane involving damage to a parked car.

Other calls: Police responses included a suspicious circumstance at 9:29 a.m. (North 19th Street), dog complaint at 6:26 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 21st Street) and a welfare check at 11:33 p.m. (South 17th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

MONDAY, JULY 20

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a parking complaint at 4:29 p.m. (Quail Glenn Drive), non-911 issue at 5:19 p.m. (Pioneer Street and North Seventh Street), unsecured premises at 8:39 p.m. (Main Street) and a welfare check at 9:32 p.m. (South 17th Street). PPD reported three traffic stops.

TUESDAY, JULY 21

• 3:49 p.m. — Police responded to the rodeo grounds for a report from an outdoor school’s summer camp that a man and woman who walked through the area to access the Marys River started swearing at staff when they were advised it was private property and asked to not walk through the camp. Police were unable to find the suspects.

• 7:43 p.m. — Police arrested a 36-year-old Portland man at James Street and Marlon Street on warrants out of Benton County Circuit Court, Lebanon Municipal Court and Clackamas County Circuit Court. The man was transported to Benton County Jail.

• 11:11 p.m. — Police arrested a 42-year-old Corvallis man along Highway 20/34 on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants during a traffic stop.

Other calls: Police responses included an animal complaint at 1:11 p.m. (South 13th Street), citizen complaint at 8:33 p.m. (South Eighth Street and Main Street) and a domestic disturbance at 11:10 p.m. (Kings Valley Highway). PPD reported two traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 22

• 2:37 p.m. — Police arrested a 72-year-old Philomath man in the 400 block of South 18th Street on a misdemeanor charge of harassment with physical contact/simple assault. The man allegedly took a swing and spit at the victim.

Other calls: Police responses included a dog at large at 11:22 a.m. (South 24th Street and Main Street), lost dog at 2:39 p.m. (North Ninth Street) and a city ordinance violation at 4:59 p.m. (South 17th Street and Ash Street). PPD reported one traffic stop.

THURSDAY, JULY 23

• 4:36 p.m. — Police arrested a 58-year-old Salem man at Applegate Street and South Ninth Street on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a criminal citation and a misdemeanor charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Other calls: Police responses included a civil dispute at 2:54 p.m. (North 16th Lane), noise disturbance at 9:33 p.m. (Paul J. Cochran Veterans Memorial Park) and citizen contact at 10:10 p.m. (Highway 20/34). PPD reported six traffic stops.
