DAILY REPORTS

FRIDAY, MAY 24

• 11:46 a.m. — Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a business in the 1700 block of Main Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number.

Other calls: PPD reported four traffic stops.

SATURDAY, MAY 25

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a welfare check at 11:25 a.m. (no address reported), welfare check at 1:03 p.m. (College Street), citizen assistance at 2:13 p.m. (Main Street), dog at large at 7:41 p.m. (South Eighth Street) and a disabled vehicle at 8:29 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted other agencies on calls at 7:33 p.m. (North 19th Street), 7:38 p.m. (North 19th Street) and 11:22 p.m. (Applegate Street and South 12th Street). PPD reported four traffic stops.

SUNDAY, MAY 26 

• Time NA — Police arrested a 35-year-old Newport man on a misdemeanor charge of second-degree shoplifting stemming from a May 16 incident in the 1700 block of Main Street.

Other calls: Police responses included welfare checks at 4:38 p.m. (South 11th Street) and 8:59 p.m. (Plymouth Drive and Bellfountain Road). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 8:31 p.m. (Highway 20/34). PPD reported nine traffic stops.

MONDAY, MAY 27

• No calls of significance were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included citizen assistance at 9:49 a.m. (Main Street), mental health situation at 2:35 p.m. (North 15th Street), suspicious circumstance at 5:14 p.m. (South 11th Street), suspicious circumstance at 5:34 p.m. (no address reported) and citizen assistance at 6:53 p.m. (Main Street). In addition, police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office on a call at 12:08 a.m. (Beaver Creek Road, Corvallis) and another agency on a call at 7:32 p.m. (Main Street and North 15th Street). PPD reported 12 traffic stops.

TUESDAY, MAY 28

• 9:27 a.m. — Police arrested a 59-year-old Corvallis man on a warrant at the Philomath Police Station.

• 5:05 p.m. — Police assisted the Benton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene of a crash on Highway 34 near its intersection with Old Peak Road. Both vehicles were damaged heavily; there were reportedly no injuries. See separate story.

Other calls: Police responses included event detail at 8:26 a.m. (Applegate Street), dog at large at 5:24 p.m. (North 11th Street and Quail Glenn Drive) and a suspicious person at 8:51 p.m. (South 10th Street). In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 3:55 p.m. (Main Street and South 11th Street). PPD reported two traffic stops.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 29

• 12:09 p.m. — Police responded to a crash at 12:09 p.m. in the 2300 block of Main Street. No injuries were reported.

• 3:58 p.m. — Police responded to a report of fraud in the 300 block of South 18th Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number. 

Other calls: Police responses included a parking complaint at 2:21 p.m. (Deer Creek Way). PPD reported one traffic stop.

THURSDAY, MAY 30

• 9:44 a.m. — Police responded to a crash at Main Street and South 24th Street. No injuries were reported.

Other calls: Police responses included a report of fraud in the 1400 block of Main Street. No other details were made available other than a report was taken and assigned a case number. In addition, police assisted another agency on a call at 9:31 a.m. (Applegate Street). PPD reported no traffic stops.

FOLLOW-UP REPORTS

TUESDAY, MAY 21

• 1:50 p.m. — Police responded to a report of threats made involving a school’s administrator and a parent. The incident was documented and police said a letter was reportedly to be drafted to ban the parent from all school properties.
