FRIDAY, MAY 24

• 3:36 p.m. — Troopers responded to a motorcycle crash on Highway 19 about 17 miles south of Arlington that took the life of James Nicholas Braithwaite, 58, of Pasco, Washington. OSP’s preliminary investigation indicated that Braithwaite was headed south on a Harley Davidson when he left the roadway for unknown reasons and went down a steep embankment. He was declared deceased at the scene.

THURSDAY, MAY 30

The Oregon State Police Major Crimes Section is leading the investigation of an officer-involved shooting in Linn County.

According to OSP, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded at 8:16 p.m. May 30 to 29380 Speasl Road in a rural part of the county for a report of a domestic dispute that involved a firearm. While on their way to the residence, a firearm was reportedly discharged at the residence.

Deputies arrived and located the suspect, Gino Anthony Marcoccia, 49, of Lebanon, outside the residence. Marcoccia was reportedly armed with a rifle and advanced aggressively toward a deputy while ignoring commands to drop the firearm. Closing in on the officer, the deputy shot Marcoccia, who was declared deceased at the scene. No law enforcement members were injured during the incident.
