In a result rarely seen in high school tennis, the Philomath and Marist Catholic girls played to a 4-4 tie Monday afternoon in a Special District 2 matchup.

The system in place to break ties in duals begins with the number of sets won and the two schools each had eight. The second tiebreaker goes to games won and the teams were tied there, 66-66.

Philomath won three of the four singles matches and Marist won three of the four doubles matches. Bailey Bell (6-0, 6-0) and Adele Beckstead (6-1, 6-0) won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and Megan Reese was a winner at No. 4 singles (7-5, 6-3).

In doubles, the No. 1 pair of Phoebe Dodson and Daniella Carlisle posted a 6-4, 7-5 victory.

The Warriors are scheduled to play at 4 p.m. Thursday at home against Estacada.
