The Philomath High School boys tennis team played for the first time in 10 days Monday afternoon and took one on the chin in an 8-0 loss to Marist Catholic.
The Warriors (9-3-1 overall, 3-1 league) lost for the first time this season in Special District 2 play.
The Spartans won seven of the eight matches in straight sets. The closest match of the day occurred at No. 2 singles where Andrew Leonard pushed Andrew Forsyth in a 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 result.
Philomath will hit the court next on Thursday with a trip to Estacada. The match against Stayton that was rained out twice last week has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. Friday at home.
