An 18-year-old Philomath man was arrested Thursday morning at Philomath Academy on multiple felony charges that included attempted murder, Oregon State Police reported.

Aedyn Michael Williamson was taken into custody on an arrest warrant for attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon and recklessly endangering, the law enforcement agency said.

The arrest follows an investigation spanning several months of a road rage shooting incident that occurred June 27 on Interstate 5 north of Keizer in Marion County.

Also in connection with the case, OSP detectives on Tuesday arrested Malachi Martinez-Sligar, 22, of Salem, on a warrant for the charges of attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon, recklessly endangering and reckless driving.

The incident last summer on I-5 involved an altercation between occupants of a Nissan Maxima and a sport utility vehicle that resembled a Dodge Journey, state police said.

“During the altercation, the right-front passenger in the Dodge Journey discharged a firearm at the Nissan Maxima, striking the vehicle’s rear driver-side quarter panel multiple times,” OSP reported at the time. “The shooter was reportedly wearing a ski mask. No injuries were reported.”

OSP published an alert following the road rage incident asking for the public’s assistance in gathering information related to the case.

Attempted murder is a Measure 11 felony that typically carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 90 months in prison.

Philomath’s superintendent of schools, Susan Halliday, only confirmed that an arrest had occurred and that she had no other information, including the individual’s role, if any, at the school.

Williamson and Martinez-Sligar were both lodged at Marion County Jail.
