Marist Catholic won seven of eight matches Monday afternoon in Eugene to take a Special District 2 girls tennis victory over Philomath.
The Spartans won all four of the doubles matches with two going the full three sets. Seniors Lacey Bacho and Maggie King at No. 2 and senior Logan Cook and junior Isabelle Norman at No. 4 pushed their opponents to the end but lost on 10-point tiebreaks.
In singles, Philomath notched its lone victory in the No. 2 slot with junior Lucy Thomas taking a 6-2, 6-4 win over Marist junior Alanna Scala. Junior Cecilia Milesi and sophomore Ella Hammonds were competitive in their matches with both falling by 6-4, 6-4 margins.
Philomath’s next match is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday at home vs. West Albany.
