Philomath Fire and Rescue crews extinguished a barn fire on Bailey Street northeast town on Sunday afternoon, bringing the blaze under control in just over a half hour with no injuries reported.
Dispatchers received the call at 2:21 p.m. on June 28 and sent 18 personnel to the scene in two engines, a heavy brush truck, three water tenders and a command vehicle. The Corvallis Fire Department and Monroe Rural Fire Protection District provided automatic aid.
A report on the fire indicated the structure was unoccupied with no people or livestock inside. Arriving crews found the barn — measuring 20-by-30 feet — situated behind a residence on the property.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from the exterior, Fire and Rescue said, and it was reportedly under control within 36 minutes of the initial call. Crews remained on scene to mop up before clearing.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
